What did you get in the mail today? (Part 2)

Thanks! Yeah it’s tough, artisans are another huge drain on funds. Although some of them are so cool like the Tomie one I just got. So I’m not gonna recommend diving down the rabbit hole, but wouldnt blame you if you do!

Smol SP mail day: A white DCS space bar in ABS to replace the slightly-too-banana’d PBT one. No more binding! The color match isn’t perfect, but is plenty close and does have that classic vibe of an ABS bar with otherwise PBT caps.

Hope this doesn’t come off as SP-splainin’ but they did send out replacement ABS spacebars for Delft after the PBT ones turned out to be mostly unusable. Since it was PK though you had to request them. Did you get that replacement set? If not I’d be curious if SP still had some in a drawer somewhere.

MMD KM16 Keyboard Aluminum Alloy Case with Knob

Summary

Waiting for them to give me the VIA file. Now the site sees but does not load. Top mount on FR4. All knobs with tactile cutoffs, and infinite scrolling plus pressing. There is no typing angle. The case is top metal like an anode, fingerprints seem to disappear, but like the Vic Record Spring. I wanted a cheap macropad with VIA.

I think I’d heard about that, but only literal years after it happened. I did mention is was for Delftware and they directed me to the one-off DCS key order page - I’m guessing I missed the window for claiming the replacements.

KBDcraft’s BoyU sent me two boards: a 60% Lilith and a 20% “ergo split macropad” Lilin.

As you can see, both being LEGO-compatible, I ended up merging them into a '80s style terminal keyboard layout. This modularity is pretty awesome, Vial recognized this monster almost perfectly. Well, the right part was recognized as a full numpad, but remapping the keys worked fine, so no problem at all.

By the way, a lot of stuff fits into two small boxes:

No pictures, and not REALLY from the mail, but I found a like new Herman Miller Aeron from marketplace for $300. I’ve wanted one for a long time and couldn’t pass up the price.

Dude, during COVID I used a 500$ stipend to get a nice office chair. I wanted a Herman Miller but didn’t want to pay the difference out of pocket. I still got a nice chair, but what surprised me is by the time I eventually went back to the office and sat on the 12 year old Herman Miller Aerons that probably had hundreds of butts sit in them… still better than my 500$ brand new Herman Miller competitor chair…

Those mf’ers hold up. Sure it is like 1000$ brand new, but it will last decades.

Some Halloween/Horror themed resin today. Got a Ja ja ja, son son son Keaper from Cysm. Very cool stuff as Friday the 13th & Jason are my favorite horror franchise/villain. Also Cysm has pretty cool packaging as well. The tear away box protecting everything is a really nice touch IMO.

Got a Saka68 from xianyu in today. The Description and Photos of the listings stated that there were scratches on the plate on visible spots, but so far i couldn’t find any. (That’s just a spec of dust on the top right)
It’s stiff as a rock, being a full Alu board with an Alu plate that’s sandwiched between the two halves. But it sounds relatively good, depending on the switch combo.
Of course, i already desoldered these MX Blues that, surprisingly, came with 2-stage long springs. I want to know what went through the person’s head when he built it like this.
If Anybody has any idea where i could find custom/aftermarket/other plates and PCB’s , let me know.

I had no luck looking up the plate files, CMM.Studio might have them on their Discord server, but any invite I could find was expired. I did find this though, Saka POM Plate – Custom KBD. Can’t vouch for Custom KBD as I have never ordered anything from them, but I have heard of them & never heard anything bad about them. Oh also Deskhero still has some stock of extra PCBs & plates for the Saka still left, other vendors might have some stuff left too.

Last week I got the MV Synth deskmat and PBT caps from The TKC closeout sale. For $20 they’re great. Banana space bars but they still function well. The reverse dye sub is messed up on stepped caps, but I’m not complaining for $20. Love the aesthetic.

I’ve been messing around with switches and PCB/plate combos for my Fjell, so I tried them out here. The PBT caps are super tight on switches and stabilizers. Popped a stabilizer wire on backspace. I’ll definitely keep these caps on hotswappable builds :joy:

I think they’ll look great on a PC board. I want to see the F-row and some additional accents on a bigger board.

More resin, this time from Zearoh. Neither are his sculpts as he’s still tightening up his casting process. Still cool to get some resin from someone before they become known in the artisan game though!

Not quite today, but work has had me bogged dow. something fierce.

I acquiesced to the cajoling of the little horned fellow on my shoulder and decided to add another expensive hobby to the mix…

F’s in chat for my wallet…

I am hoping that things slow down a little in the next few weeks and I can get some nice pics of my updated collection as there has still been a lot if stuff happening in the background. :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

I haven’t followed cameras for years, what a cool retro-looking digital. Love the metal housing. Mirrorless or SLR?

Mirrorless :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Not today but recently. Steep discount CSTM65 with PBS Blanks black on black.

Here’s a pic of me trying to put the caps on

What is the top texture like on these PBS keycaps? They look like they are very smooth.

Yes, very smooth. It was one of my major gripes on the white blanks. I would prefer a slightly textured surface.

I got to try out an early set of PBS and if my brain/fingers are remembering correctly, they arent super textured nor do I remember them feeling smooth (im comparing smooth to something like NicePBT) so it’s somewhere in-between.
