Transmit Toy v2. Full POM long pole linears that are actually surprisingly rare and good. Seemingly made by JWK. There is stick slip but they accept lube very well.
G3ms Dark Rose (?). Not much Info on those under that Name. It’s possible that they are G3ms Onyx and the translation somehow mixed them up, but i’m not sure. It’s some type of long pole linear made by GrainGold. Onyx would be POM housing with P3 stem, if i understand correctly. But i’m not sure if that’s these switches. Heavy on the factory lube and quite deep in sound.
LCET Sea Salt. They were only available through LCET switch testers initially, but now they started selling them separately, at least on Xianyu through affiliated Sellers. No Info on Materials, but probably PA bottom, PC top, POM stem if i had to guess. Decently little wobble and they are quite smooth. I think mine came dry, so i hope that they will take lube well.
LCET Night Elf. Another long pole Linear that gets sold as “similar to BCP” while not really being similar to BCP. Listing said POM stem with PA66 housing, but that feels way too smooth and slippery to be a PA66 housing. Feels more like POM or POK ime. Decent factory lube and very little wobble with a deep sound. They feel good too, and have a strange feeling spring, but i don’t know what it is about it that makes it feel so strange. It feels heavy but not heavy at the same time.
Even worse if you can believe it - and not many places sell them to individuals so competitive pricing for consumers is less of a thing with them. I bought enough for one small keyboard a while back and remember having the same oof reaction to the tiny, expensive bag of metal grains.
I love the idea of holtite sockets (no lip / sit flush), but between the price and the tedium they’re hard to recommend, especially since the shorter-lip milmax ones exist now.
Not keyboard related (and no pictures), but got my new phone in today. Upgraded from the Pixel 7 Pro to the Pixel 9 Pro XL. I was tempted to get the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but in the end, I couldn’t bring myself to want to spend money on it when the trade in for my Pixel 7 covered the entire new phone.
I’m a Google ecosystem sucker at this point, don’t see myself going back to Samsung.
I always wished that gradient keycap sets went from light on the bottom to dark at the top. That would increase the contrast of the symbol legends on the top row.
DCS Honeywell has landed, proper Backspace keys included! I ordered through Divinikey so anyone else who joined the GB through them keep an eye out for your set, it should be in the mail already!
Tl:dr:
1.Similar to Bobagums but not as good, still very nice and smooth.
2. Factory lubed.
3. On the softer side of silent switches.
4. Long springs.
5. Very quiet.
6. Bright RGB, pink tint.
7. Very cheap $13 for pack of 70, fantastic value.
My review:
This is my first pack of silent switches (took a break from the harsh sound of regular switches) so I can’t make good comparisons but IIRC from a pack of sample switches I’ve had in the past they’re similar to Gazzew Bobagum, obviously, both Outemu and feature the same silencing method.
Compared to Bobagums they’re not as smooth and their off-center press isn’t as frictionless, though it’s negligible and they’re factory lubed, the switch is pretty nice and smooth to type on, just not Gazzew evel.
They’re soft, noticeably softer than my TTC Bluish White sample, almost feels like I’m typing on a standard rubber done keyboard but it’s linear, I don’t mind that it’s soft, I prefer silence over firmness, they also feature long springs.
Which leads me to sound, they’re very quite, suitable for office setting, significantly more silent than standard rubber-dome keyboards and maybe even silenced ones, their sound doesn’t get picked up on calls and it could barely be heard across a small room, there’s no typical “swish” sound of silent/scratchy switches just the small sound of the pads bottoming out.
The seller was nice enough to send me 2 samples, one is similar to U4 (HP colors) and one is a silent Brown type (Green one), both seem nice, doesn’t stand out in any special way.
I will test samples of the OUTEMU Silent Lemon V3 soon. That’s the green one, in your photo.
Do you feel a need to lube the Silent Peach, given the factory lube? The early generations of the Silent Cream Yellow [the HP coloured switch] tended to ring and ping. If you like the HP-coloured switch, I recommend looking for the “Butter Yellow” variant, or “Silent Jade Yellow,” as both are excellent.
I’m a lazy person I rarely lube my switches… Despite that I do have very sensitive ears which is why I ditched tactiles in general, there’s some unexplained metallic (I assume it’s the sound of the stem hitting the leaf and having it vibrate) was driving me nuts, even high-end tactiles with properly lubed leafs and springs still had this metallic “chirp”, and with silent tactiles it’s even more noticeable.
That said I personally don’t feel I need to lube those switches, would manually lubing them make them better? perhaps, but they have no ping, they’re quite and pretty smooth, no grain or any texture actually, though I am fine with broken in MX Reds…
With the earlier versions of the OUTEMU silent switches, I found a noticeable difference in sound between factory-lubed and hand-lubed. With some 3204 in the switches and spring-lube, they became lower-pitched, and more rounded in sound.
I’ll find out soon enough whether 3204 improves the latest V3 Silent Lemon.
I received a Join65. I purchased it from the discord server Keygem / marketplace for the little price of 50 euro’s.
It is a nice looking cnc board without any flaws.
I haven’t seen or read anything of this board but after completing the build with Rosewood switches it’s just a fine board that feels premium.
The only minus of this board is that it doesn’t have rgb. But that is not a big deal.
I think it’s a bit of a forgotten keyboard.
MoeeTech Glitter65 R2, anodized purple Ultra edition. I received this in July in a prototypish phase, and it took weeks for the final usb daughterboard to arrive – thanks to the local customs staff who found it too suspicious to release without several phone calls and emails…
Lots of improvements compared to the original R1 model, but the aesthetics of the unique tray structure case is pretty similar.
65%, alu case, wired, hotswap, PCB options, split spacebar options, Vial compatible, front LED strip, USB hub, card reader, PCB ruler, sticker pack, bag, etc. I’d say the price is justified.
Ah, some photos… I discovered the split spacebar option only mid-building, that’s why the inconsistent images. For some reason it’s not even mentioned on the product page, and none of the photos and videos I’ve seen feature it.
I’m glad to see these upgrades, as the R1 was a bit of a pain to assemble. I also hope Moee Tech has nailed down their packing and shipping process. The first R1 board they sent me arrived partially assembled and obviously used. I asked for a replacement and not only did they send one, I also got a full refund plus shipping. Unfortunately, the replacement board arrived with a damaged PCB due to poor packing and internal box support. Moee Tech sent another PCB free of charge! Now I will say, absolutely the board was difficult to assemble and the design choices were very odd. However, I have yet to deal with a company that has gone as far as Moee Tech did to get me a working board.
Looking at this review, it seems most of those poor designs have been updated, I would not be opposed to getting an R2 based on this alone.
Thanks for posting this!!
