Will definitely let you know what I think of them once I get them bud!
That’s awesome! I’ve had mine in hand for a few weeks now, but of course I haven’t built it to give any useful impressions. I do have to say, that the “retro white” spray coat is flawless and quite attractive in person. I hope you enjoy yours when it comes in.
Also I had to pull the trigger on GMK FTRO as well. Maybe I’ll put it on my U80-A as a nod to PBT Heavy Industry and the untarnished glory days of Rama Works.
Wanted to use up my DKC discount for the month, so I’m giving one of these megalodon macro pads a try. I’ve needed a good macro pad so hopefully it works out like I want it too. Also grabbed the decoration kit for DCS Sleeper as that is the only part of it I didnt have yet.
Hope you like the Megalodon pad, I’ve really enjoyed mine. It came loaded with Gateron Milky Yellows, feels and sounds nice OTB. I’m using it as a separate numpad with a Kono 84 at home. I did have to flash firmware to make VIA work, though I understand I may have gotten an older unit.
Nice, glad to hear you are liking yours! Yeah I’m aware I may have to flash the VIA JSON to it for it to be programmable. Not a big deal there, or at least it shouldn’t be hopefully! I’ll let you know what I think of it once I get it & can try it out!
Only just found out about this after watching alexotos’ recent build video on it. Looks pretty neat to me, love the layout. The bezel and case is a bit on the plain side.
It looks like it’s a 80% / TKL-is though? With the navigation cluster rotated, if that makes sense.
You can also split the right shift so that could be Shift + Fn.
Yeah 75% is very close to a TKL, I get whay youre saying. For me its mostly the visual symmetry & sound of 75% that is a turn off. The sound thing is an old school take as I’m pretty sure there has been quite a few good sounding 75%s that came out. Although back in the day it seemed like every 75% ended up sounding like booty.
Darn it. I’m just going to wait the new batch if they haven’t shipped my order yet.
I, instead, asked for refund if my order hasn’t shipped yet.
Turns out they already did but they’re giving me a full refund anyway. Thanks UniKeys!
You can definitely use them. They would sound a lot better with a few swabs of lube cleaned out of the bottom, but they are unique as is. Interested to see what you think about them.
I’m really enjoying the MZ Y3 linears. They’re not quite as remarkably stable, but still way above the stability of most linears. These do feel and sound similar to Vertex V1s. These are 100% intended to be a stock switch to fulfill the needs of people who are want the sound of a hand lubed switch. It might be the case I have them in, but they do remind me a lot of lubed and filmed cherry blacks (perhaps a bit crisper sounding)
They aren’t perfect, though. The lube is an oil, similar to what I see in Gateron oil kings. And it is everywhere in the switch. So much oil. When you open them up it’s between the top and bottom housing… which probably means it will eventually be on your plate and your PCB. I’m not too concerned, but it could be messy. Also, because the switch is so well lubed, you hear every extra noise. A few of them have a ticking sound every now and then. Probably the contact leaf. Still, for a stock switch, the sound and feel is 9.5/10. I would personally like to have a spring that is about 3g heavier.
gulp
100% on using spring for controlling noises. Sometimes needs a bit of 205g0 at each end to account for increased tension.
Nice! Wish I would’ve put in an order before they pulled the Snow Crashes like I wanted too. Cant beat free! Throw them babies in an ultrasonic bath then hand lube them & you’ll be all good to go with them!
My SA Mitospeed came in from Drop (using Corsair fulfillment now, it seems, based on the printing on the huge shipping box), but I got no comma key and two period keys. Now I have to decide whether to send the whole thing back or go for a partial refund. I’m inclined to just take the partial refund and plop down a novelty or the “ANY” key, since the entire set is a bit silly, though also quite lovely. If it were a proper Laser set or anything with “normal” mods, it would be an easier call.
I’m surprised they won’t just mail you the missing comma key; have you reached out to them about it?Usually that’s a much cheaper option for the seller than paying for shipping out a whole new set plus covering the return shipping.
This happened to me with an SA Carbon set from Drop. 6 keys total were missing from a modifier set. They gave me the option of ordering a replacement kit or getting the missing keys made by SP and sent direct. I ended up returning for a replacement and shipping was covered both ways.
Used my two 20% off NovelKeys gift cards I bought earlier this month to pre-order MTNU Granite base and accents kit. There are just a few hours left to order if you’re interested.
Yeah, when I reached out, the options were to send the whole thing back for a replacement, send it back for a refund, get a $20 store credit, or a 20% refund. I’m guessing they’re past the time of stripping spare sets for replacements in their Corsair era.
FWIW I tried to get a single bunk MT3 cap replaced years ago and I had the same options - ended up taking a couple more tries and eventually getting a good set. (This was early in MT3 doubleshot production and bad caps were sort of common at the time - since then I picked up quite a few sets that were good on the first try.)
This one looks quite symmetric to me:
But yeah, with all the recent developments in mounting options, plate material options, and foam options, I’m pretty sure it’s an old school thinking in that every 75% sounds like boot
Yeah, I resisted my initial instincts and told them to send me a label to start an exchange, though it feels slightly silly. The whole point was going with something nicer than I normally buy, and this missing key is right in the alpha block so there’d have been no hiding it.
