I own the two colors that came with the original group buy, white and black. I was really bummed when they decided to remove the argyle pattern off the PCB before the group buy was announced. I had talked to him about maybe doing some printed argyle patterns on clear stickers, but I never got around to it. It turns out that he had a few prototype colors that were not used. I love the green and even better that it has the pattern on it. I plan to build this one and put my nuke data cadet caps on it. I still havenât put them on a board since I got them several months ago.
Bastion TKL (F12/F13 combo hotswap) PCB from CannonKeys arrived.
- PCB worked fine with hot-glued daughter board.
- Original PC plate fits (struts will be removed) but Iâll have to make some cuts to use PCB stabs.
- Case fits (some cheapo TKL I canât remember the name of)
All this just to get VIA support and Tsangan layout but was a good excuse to try Bastion PCBs.
A bunch this time.
Not in order.
- A full Set of Keygeek FM. U2 Stem, PA12 top, PA66 bottom. I expected more from them, but at least they look pretty.
- Huano red. Mostly for my collection because those are rare and mostly undocumented. POM stem with black (Assumed to be) full Nylon housings. Pretty average, but nice to have.
- Trantek (TTC) branded black switches. Iâm also assuming POM stem and Nylon housing. Those are surprisingly really good. Very little wobble, smooth and prelubed and no pinging or crunching or anything. Shame they are so rare and hard to find.
- Outemu Daisheng. POM stem with PA66 housing. Newly released but very underwhelmed by them. They have quite a lot of Stem wobble. Not a big fan of them. I was hoping i could put normal Outemu Black stems in them to make modern, mx-latch, 4mm travel outemu blacks, but even with that stem swap they are quite wobbly.
- Unknown (i think, at least so far?) Graingolds in the top left.
- Akko branded Zorro Pink. Nothing noteworthy other than that.
- Kaicheng Black and Brown. Itâs interesting how one of those Kaicheng Topâs has already yellowed but the other one has not.
- Outelo Blue in 2 variants with different nameplates. I have a theory that Outelo is NOT Outemu as people expected, but LCET. My reasoning? ALL Outemu switches have a small mold marking on the bottom of the pole well. From the oldest Outemus i could find up to the Daisheng that just came out. But not these Outelo. I will probably update though, once i compared molds and all.
Resin, resin, & more resin! Seriously though MotW killed it with these caps (the ones shown under UV light)!
My deskey domes and other accessories just came in.
Thanks a lot to all the people that gave me feedbacks in the Topre thread, I could finally take a desision on the domes to buy.
Those are purple domes like many suggested were good in term of weight.
As I wanted something closer to OEM feeling (and not binary tactile) I picked up V3 versions.
Just pressing on the domes alone gave me the impression that I pick the right thing
Those will be used on one of the two Aquanaut keyboards (link here) that I will manufacture early next year, and will also use URSA keycaps designed by our man @Andreas !
Wow! I really like that rose one. Can I ask where you picked that up?
Those caps are made by Maison of the West & the rose one in particular is called âLa Rosaâ. Itâs my favorite design he makes even though he has a few other more complicated sculpts. I am a sucker for blanks with designs though. Hereâs a link to his discord server, Maison of the West
lets goooo and how did i miss the aquanaut (+EC ver!!!) also i cant tell but will u be running the ec spacebar with wire in regular position (to the bottom of the plate) or flipped (toward ZXCV row). i am not familiar with leaf-plates and the area near the ec spacebarâs mount seems thin (or can it fit the wire in usual config?)
maison goated. longest hug looks so good with the uv eyes. i hope i win one of those sculpts one of these days, and also more This Guise
Yes, the wire will be at the bottom as I designed the case for this (there is an extra space at the spacebar location on the bottom part) !
Agreed, Maison just doesnât miss. His resin drawing skills are out of this world too!
I received an Israfel from KBDcraft last week. I didnât want to post it earlier because out of the box it looks like this:
Yep, another LEGO keyboard, this time a 50% unibody split with an adjustable angle. Itâs sick, I love it. Not a toy at all, I seriously consider daily driving this. All my previous LEGO boards were a huge compromise in terms of typing feel, but the all-POM Choc V2s in this one make a world of difference. Why havenât I tried these much earlier?!
Review this way: KBDcraft Israfel review
This hinge thing for the adjustable angle is so simple yet clever. I can easily mimic the angle of my other monoblock splits:
Nice! After you build it, make sure you try both with and without the silicon insert in the case. Mine felt and sounded so much better without it.
Oh, also, if you do use it, youâll need to cut out a section for the USB-mini connector thatâs on the board (even though it isnât used, it collides with the silicone).
I did all of my data entry for my keycap collection on this board. Using right now with GMK Aero on it
Will do, thanks for the insight. I have special plans for this build and canât wait to finish and show it off.
That USB mini port on the PCB had me so confused when I went to test it LOL! I didnât notice the port for the JST at first & plugged it in through the USB mini, which made the windows connection sound but didnât allow the board to be recognized. I almost panicked at first since it wasnât my PCB, then notice the JST port & was like âthank god!â I do wonder why it has that USB mini port on it though?
Got some new Keebmats and some deskmat storage bags in that I grabbed during their last sale.
I want one. I want one now.
