Got more HMX switches today. Guava, Chu, Su Color R2 Purple, 1989. Also got some Indigo spacebars to test with the Hammerhead Light.
The Chu stems need trimming, the 1989 stems are the smallest (easiest fit for keycap).
Guava and Chu the loudest, with Chu highest pitch; Su Purple the lowest pitch/most muted/softest bottom out; 1989 much lower pitch than Guava and Chu, slightly harsher and louder bottom out than Su Purple.
I’m such a sucker for HMX switches sheesh.

Anyway here's Indigo space on Hammerhead

Doesn’t look terrible. Gives it a darker look, I kind of like it a tad more than the Cojiro space.

Cojiro for comparison:

I need more keyboard to put these HMX switches in. Yes. I think I need to buy more keyboards.

My partner and I have a few really different hobbies, and then a few that overlap. We’re both supportive of the other re: time, financials, and active listening , but they are definitely still confused by my single switch collection. On the other hand they got to try a bunch of different switches to pick out what they wanted for the work and home boards I built them. And I forgive them for prefering silent switches haha

I love Hammerhead Light and Dark, bought the fake sets for relatives.

Interestingly, I also bought a Cojiro clone set for a relative. It came with the cool pink sword legends and stuff. Really great stuff.

I hope Hammerhead GBs again, because it’s a beautiful set and concept, and I missed out last time. The indigo spacebars worked out really well, too.

Thanks. I think I’m going to go with the Indigo space bar (by popular vote lol). I’d kill for a Hammerhead round 2 with some updated kitting to include more extensions and Light alpha colored space bars.

I was debating hard if I should just get the full set haha I actually kind of do dig the color contrast.

Today I got some Wasabi Latin alphas, the Hammerhead dark + ext + novs, and a bunch of hardware and parts for the Dolphin60 that was missing in the original package from KLC Playground. The keyboard also came packaged with a 65% PCB (which they want back apparently) and they included a bunch of foam with the extras that I didn’t ask for (bc I wasn’t missing those) including one for a TKL. I don’t know why they keep sending me things that aren’t for my keyboard lol SMH.

Anyway, super excited about the keycaps. Wanted to share. Sorry for the foot picture.

UPDATE:
I was pretty excited for the latin alphas because of how clean it looked on the GB render.

I think sublegends looked better. Oh well.
I also put some novelties on the Moment

The set so nice I bought it twice! Got my XMI Vintage Support II set in from Masjeworks today! The kitting is very similar but for this round he added diagonal arrow keys, shine through keys, & the option to buy relegendables in both colors. For $55 this is easily the best “bang for your buck” set of keycaps I have ever come across. The XMI blanks quality is great & their dyesub is just as good if not better than other manus. Add in the over 20 extra caps the set comes with that was not shown in the renders for it & I can’t think of anything from the super cheap to super expensive keycap sets that can rival the quality for the price here IMHO!

Mine was the same way, just stopped tracking after it hit JFK then showed up randomly yesterday. So I wouldnt worry about it being missing just yet.

More LCET stems with materials that may be true, may not be true at all, who knows. Green ones stick slip in a full POM housing, the others do not, that’s all i know.
Also some Red PA66 LCET top housings but i have no idea what to do with them yet. And they also feel more like PC than PA.
And a set of Designer Studio stabs. The ones that have that asian plastic cutting and bending mod built in already. I would say they are about equal to TX or PaiGu in terms of rattle and such. Maybe a little more wobble, but just use a good switch and that’s not an issue.

I too got some stabs in the mail today!!

The Mode stabs are for a commission. I haven’t had a chance to really test them out, but I haven’t heard anything negative about them, and the price isn’t too bad

Some Wuque Studio Stupid Stabs which sound like they could be pretty good, but also could be pretty bad.I have enjoyed pretty much every WS stab iteration I have picked up, so I hope that they don’t lower my future expectations.

Designer Studio stabs, just because I keep seeing them pop up, but not really seeing anyone dive into them…

And last, but not least, the namesake successor to the much heralded Durock V2’s… Durock screw-in V3’s!

They looks pretty much identical to me :person_shrugging:

@pixelpusher sold me on them: got my Snow Crash linears in last night, looking forward to giving them a try!

No matter what, you’ll have to admit they are unique! Hope you like them.

Just a heads up to anyone else who got a set of Masjewerke’s Vintage Support Rd.2, double your O key from the SSK keys. Just noticed the one I got was made in the wrong row profile. They printed it on a R3 key instead the R2 it should be. Not sure if it’s a widespread issue or not, I did just post on his discord server about it asking others if they have the same issue so hopefully it’ll get sorted if it is. Here’s a couple pics comparing the key made in the wrong row from R2 to one made in the proper row profile from R1. Posting here for visibility.

Hey d3L, how do you like the cheap Mode mill-max sockets? I’m researching a project and need some impressions on mill-max options.
Thanks!!

They have been great! 3305 is my go-to for Mill-max as the socket shoulder height is very low allowing the switch to make full contact with the PCB, and the tail is long enough to make soldering them easy to give off professional results.

Surprise surprise I got more HMX switches lol

Snow Crash, Su Pink, BSUN Sakura

Snow’s the highest pitch and just feels like a full travel HMX switch. Su has a much softer bottom out than Sakura resulting in a more muted switch, but both are lower pitch. I think I really like these Su switches–they’ve got the buttery smoothness and crisp poppy springs of HMX switches but have a soft bottom out that’s still clean but without the harshness of most HMX switches.
I don’t know what it is about HMX springs/switches but they always feel snappier than other linears, like there’s a small hump in tension to get it going.

… These “new switches” unikeys emails are killing me. I should unsubscribe.

Ordered the M6-C DUALSHOT from Omnitype over a week ago, today I received this from them:

Unfortunately this has been the third time, nearly in a row, that I’m ordering keeb related things in the US and receive the wrong item. Am I jinxed or is it a larger scale issue? Had situations like this before with Boardsource as well as Novelkeys.

For regular customers this might be a minor annoyance, however, I’m dealing with forwarding fees and significant wait times in between, and it’s not easily possible for me to just send back stuff to get it replaced. :frowning:

On a side note: How ironic to order a RAMA product and receive the exact same thing but from HIBI.
