Trying to hone my keyboard ID’ing skills lol in anticipation that one day a vendor or meetup hosts a Jeopardy style game.
More CRP kits to add to my growing collection, from mechanicalkeyboards.com of all places too! Had no ideal they were stocking CRP, but thankfully it popped up for me on the Shop app since they had some kits on sale (I think they still might be on sale too). I ended up grabbing the Numpad kit & the last Irish alphas kit they had in stock.
The Irish alphas look really sharp! It would be nice to have mods that have the sublegends from Grisseann/Royal Alpha, but I don’t think Hammer ever made them for CRP. Also would’ve been nice to have a R5 Gr Alt, again though something that hasn’t showed up in CRP yet AFAIK.
Also happy to report the mod beige from R6 matches R4, the pic doesn’t capture it well cause of the lighting in my room though. Trust me when I say IRL you can not tell the difference between between the two. The Hyper key is R4 & the rest are R6.
Next-level mod.
The only thing that comes to mind is getting it done through sandblasting
The mail of the last couple of days, now the new build can begin.
Another amazing set of custom caps from Yuzu.
70x TTC silent bluish white from Milktooth.
Two bags of SPRiT progressive springs from tastatur.no.
And some Wuque Studio V3.1 stabs from maxgaming.no.
Got my order from the Dorp DCX/MT3 Bogo event in! Ended up grabbing Deep Space with the novelty & spacebar kit + 9009. Deep Space is super hard to capture properly with my phone camera, but it definitely has more contrast IRL & the colors are spot on to the GMK set from what I can tell.
Looks great man!
Oh hell yeah, Deep Space looks fantastic!!! Dang, wishing I had picked that one up during the sale.
How you liking the feel & sound of PBTfans doubleshot PBT? Ever since using MTNU I have become very curious what other high quality doubleshot PBT sets are like.
Got my Alexotos edition sonnet today!
I went through every single keycap set I own to search for sets with orange
There are many others with orange but I didn’t include them here either because they use the same color or it’s just too far off.
The orange is slightly muted with a touch of red. It matches RAL 2012 “Salmon Orange”
Long story short, there is no GMK orange that perfectly matches the accent. The only exact match for the orange I found was in one of the legend colors of Hallyu.
On the left is DSA from SP. The OAZ on the far left is pretty close. So you could create a custom set of DSA for this one. I was thinking I might finally try a custom SA-P set, but they only offer the brighter OAX for that.
MT3 ares cap is close but seems a bit muddy and darker
Next is the GMK offerings. Thai tea orange alphas are a bit too dark. This color is also similar to JTK Tianwen, not shown here. That set might look stellar on this board, but I prefer to keep it on the perfectly color matched BBOX case. The F10 key is Carbon. Last is Nuke Data (GMK V2 color, their only stock orange), so same as many GMK sets including Monkey. It might work, but it’s a bit more orange than the sonnet accent color.
Now… look at that friggin space bar on the right in the above photo. That’s NK PBT stone accent. It’s 99% accurate or better. And just guess what the stone caps look like next to the “stone” color case top (space bar here):
So NK PBT stone is a very safe bet and it might be what I try first after building.
The stone sonnet top is close to GMK U9, but it’s slightly cooler/more neutral.
It looks nice with Foundation, which does have an orange accent key (even though it’s not a perfect match.)
Anywho, it’s a nicely packaged board. I’ll report back when I get it built.
These feel really nice and sound good. I’ll have to get used to Cherry profile again to give you a better opinion.
Thanks for sharing and congrats on the new Sonnet.
Good to know I’m not the only one insane enough to keep trying to find matching keycaps.
I’m surprised that you don’t just get the alphas and base mods for the price, and need to pay more for the “pro” keys. That would be on brand.
I received this almost a month ago but wasn’t allowed to publish anything until now. Mercury K1 Pro by GravaStar. 75%, wireless, hotswap, aluminum alloy frame, alien legs, cool 270° ambient light, and a lot more features. Sturdy, well built, and I’d say affordable too. If this sci-fi theme is your cup of tea, feel free to use the KBDNEWS coupon code for 15% discount. More details in this review:
I like the speckled base of those keycaps.
Yep, exactly. It’s one of the many small details that show a lot of thought went into designing this board.
I received the keyboard back in early May.
Then they didn’t include my additional weight of 340 grams.
Long correspondence through an intermediary with them. They admitted that they were at fault. And sent it. It took a long time to get there because the intermediary (was at my grandmother’s for the summer)))).
Here it finally arrived.
I opened it. Checked it. Everything was packed well and securely.
Disassembled the keyboard. And then I realized that…
There are no bolts.
The collection grows, got a Mono a mano Pine blank in from Wheat Keys & a Shades of Formaldehyde Shittierface in from Mastonon!
Mini maildday, but I really appreciate it. Drop in PCB for the Daisy40 with onboard RP2040 MCU and encoder support. I’m a bit sentimental about this one, as my Daisy was my first “real” custom after a Corsair K70 and Cooler Master TKL with soldered MX Red.
Since getting in the hobby I also rebuilt my original Daisy to be more usable (Akko Ocean Blue, CF Plate, alu traymount and no stabilizers are…interesting acoustics) but I really hat a soft spot for this one. Sadly KBDfans seems to have discontinued the HHKB case, so maybe I get my not so great CAD skills also out for this one and print something myself. This will 100% get MillMaxed and I really want to get use of one of the Encoder spots.
