Oh I mean for the typing feel from the plates. Hoping to see if there is the nice signature plastic feel that is similar to my hhkb pro 2.
Same here, I got it as a office board as I need a light board to carry around, all my boards are over the 1kg mark.
Well, unless you throw a TG3 cop keyboard spill protector (Copre) over the switches
Generally a good build experience. One major problem was the bottom enclosure screw holes do not line up properly. You have to use some force to align them. It’s nothing I cannot fix with heat gun, tools etc but could be a frustrating issue for inexperienced builders. I believe it’s to do with ABS warp/shrinkage. Considering that I purchased it mainly for the PCB, I am OK with it but I prefer aluminum offerings from Rama. Hopefully they can iron out some of these issues in the future. Just two cents.
Yeah I had the same issue
Hope RW will launch the M60 with the mute mount design soon. Definitely will get one in Kuro if they put it out.
At the point where I’m debating whether to buy a new RAMA switch puller to replace the one I misplaced, or wait for the one that is included with the Kara.
Seeing so many KARAs posted on Reddit and Instagram, and I am still waiting for my shipping notice
bought a friend’s bnew Kara Noct from gb, built it once and unfortunately sold it. didn’t like how dark it looked compared to the earlier renders. almost looked opaque under most lighting conditions. plus starting the hobby few months back with aluminium cased boards (off aftermarket), i guess spoiled it for me. it also felt a little thin, maybe a thicker polycarb case would feel better
While I much more prefer the heft and rigidness of an aluminum case, I love the sound produced from typing on a PC case.
Truly wondering exactly how many KARA orders they are processing if fulfillment is taking this long – even with new full-time staff as mentioned in the newsletter.
i was wondering if it would have been nicer if they used PC instead of ABS, hmmm… from brief moment i had it though (without dampener), it had deep thock sounds with the U4T
Oh that’s too bad! I built a soya verison with lubed silent boba tactiles, lubed durock v2 stabs, and mixed some wob with gmk godspeed blues. At the moment, it’s bringing me nothing but joy! But I’m also very partial to hhkb layouts.
PCs scratch so easily but I hear you it could use higher density.
the soya and other translucent colours (aside from noct) are quite nice looking though
Oh, I would have bought that one from the start. I may hold off on opening my Moon one, sell it, and snag that orange (I think it’s orange) translucent one. I kinda regret not getting Azure or Iced.
Will be really fun if they do a full clear transparent case!
There was a mint colored solid one I saw today too
I didn’t get the dampener with mine and it sounded really hollow so I put some felt in that I had laying around and it’s a lot better
I think my other one in the purple color that I did get the dampener with came yesterday, will be interesting to compare, I doubt the official dampener will be much better than the foam/felt, but who knows
