Interesting Finds & Heads-Ups

It depends on what kind of clickies you like. I do think they are some of the nicest jacket clickies around, with a satisfying crunch.

They are more clean than the vast majority of jacket-based clickies, but nowhere near as clean as those that use click-bars or captive leaves (ie ones that don’t jangle around, not that there are any MX-compatible examples of that at the moment).

The closest clicky I’d say they resemble is the Outemu Ocean; it’s also an unusually clean jacket clicky. It and the Blackberries both still have some of that characteristic chaos to the sound, but noticeably less than just about any of their peers I’ve tried.

Here are a couple recordings;

In a KBD67 lite with FR4 plate and SP DCS caps:

Same build with ABS MT3 caps:

Do keep in mind both of these builds have a silicone layer in the middle, so some of that remaining chaotic sound is dampened by that a bit.

Thanks for the helpful review and sound tests! I was wavering between the new Pea Flower switches and the Blackberries for a new clicky and decided to go with the Blackberries.

I don’t have any click jacket switches in my collection (other than a single Cherry blue and green from an old tester), so may as well jump in on one of the best in the class!

I’ll save the Pea Flowers for another day.

These look a whole lot like another re-branded color variant of Maiz stabs, which is great as far as I’m concerned. The more places I can get these and the more colors they come in the better.

I tried them. They are very scratchy, even with a touch of lube. I’m sticking to Typeplus YIKB or SW Knight Stabs. Those new models from Chaosera with an elastic part that holds the wire are good too (I think the new Durock V3 use the same system, should be smooth too).

I’m not sure which thread is best for this, but I reached out to vendors and manufacturers again, and they sent me some data on their best-selling switch models. As a result, here are last month’s community-favorite keyboard switches – at least based on a sample of real sales data provided by 11 shops:

I knew I saw Blockbuster vibes in there, ha - the old "Be Kind, [Please] Rewind! " slogan is an aternate Enter key, and the numpad Enter resembles the ticket-stub logo.

Yeah pretty cool for sure! Although I wonder how well the clear PBT shot over the ABS will work out long term. I also wonder about how well or not the UV printed sublegends will visible through the clear PBT. Either way cool stuff & definitely cutting edge as far as keycap manu goes IMO!

Unless the spec sheet is wrong, these have a slightly different spring. Same bottom out but heavier actuation listed.

I do like the sound of that. Rollers are some of my current faves, and that’s one change I wouldn’t mind.

I played the demo of Glyphica: Typing Survivor back in April. It was already a great (and addictive…) game, but now the early access version is released.
I received two free steam codes which I’m giving away. Check out the rules in the post below. (Disclaimer: I’m not associated or affiliated with the team in any way. Just received these codes.)

Yeah. It’s absolutely flawless. :man_shrugging:

And I was really surprised by the weight of it. It’s just shy of 6 pounds. (2.7kg)

PBS MV Classic is available for pre-order now. Regular base kit is $65 and a very generous ortho base kit is $60. ETA ship date is 2025 Q1.

I really wish there was an option for a minimal/boring plain version, because I love everything else about this… except for having all of these sub-legends packed onto some of the keys.

This looks interesting.

I dig the concept, but not so much the design of this one.

The idea is definitely interesting. I’m curious to see what it looks like connected because the renders have that kind of awkwardly placed gap in the function row.

Pricing: $800-1000 USD* depending on the kitting (i.e. all modules included, or just the main split)
Sales Method: Group buy

Never mind. I’m out :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Edit to add:

The more I think about it, trying to reach MOQ on an $800+ split 65% is going to be near impossible, to say nothing of trying to reach MOQ on all four components. Again, I like the concept, but the pricing on this is going to make it an extremely niche product.
