That does sound interesting. Where did you see this announcement/sale? I’m not finding anything via search.
So I’ve had these a long time. When I first got them I discover they were nearly impossible to remove from a standard 1.6mm PCB. I put them away and haven’t thought about them since.
But today I had a hunch and it worked. You can easily clip the legs on these to make them work. Better yet, if you clip just the outside leg, leaving the inner part, it works like you would expect. Good tight fit in the PCB and yet removable. Very easy and quick with flush cutters or nail clippers.
Of course, a lot of this depends on your PCB. There is certainly variance in pin hole sizes from board to board.
And I can’t speak to how long they’ll hold up for switching out in plateless builds. But worse case scenario the legs break and you just use them in a plate build.
These are some very nice switches, and can easily be modified to work for various builds. I decided to only lube the top housing, which leaves a pleasantly bouncy and stable clacky switch with a medium low pitch.
Maybe watch for these to go on sale. If they do, I’ll certainly buy more.

Now that is some slick thinking! Great ideal to make the most of these switches! Also hearing they are decent makes me want to grab some & do my DR-70F plateless!

Forgive me if somebody else has already posted this recently, but this is the final stretch for Keychron’s Hall Effect version of their K2:
I’ve always liked the wood sides look, harkens back to retro synthesizers. Custom web configurator for the HE bits, but I’m hoping there will be a self-hosted/reverse engineered option. It’ll be my first Keychron board and I don’t love the layout but maybe it’ll grow on me.

I hope these are not click jackets. I always wanted to see what could be done with clickies if they were made with the same quality and attention to detail as linears. Really looking forward to these, if they are indeed click bar or click leaf

I know about the Gaterons These are from Invokeys though, so I expect better materials, tolerances and lubrication, and I hope more tactility (I’m a big fan of Box Navy and Zeal Clickiez).
