Interesting Finds & Heads-Ups

These are pretty nice. JTK trying to get their moneys worth on the HSA molds and I’m here for it.

I bought HSA Hyperfuse and have zero complaints. I was somewhat surprised by the fact that I really liked the look, sound, and feel of the glossy caps.

NovelKeys just sent out a notice that MTNU WoB, Beige, and Susu are currently shipping to NK. Glad to see this is running right on schedule!

Yeah, I got Hyperfuse as well and while I haven’t mounted it yet I enjoy looking at it in the trays. I also was part of the GB for WoB so I have a ton of HSA now sitting in drawers but I do plan on using it at some point. This one is very nice, especially with the dark accents, I wanna keep an eye out and see if Vala has another door buster sale like they did a few months back.

Agree. The pink HSA look lovely like something out of a vintage makeup kit. But no one should be paying full price for keycaps. The sales will happen. We’ve seen it enough. Don’t forget, Black Friday sales will be here before you know it.

How does HSA compare to SA?

I managed to get HSA Hyperfuse at about 40% off and I love it at that price point. I’m not really looking for a pink/blush set, but they knocked this one out of the park. It looks great and I’m curious to see what the next HSA set will be.

It’s appalling, but I don’t have any SA sets to compare. I find it incredibly comfortable to type on with a really nice scoop—feels about halfway between MDA and MT3 in terms of scoop depth. The scoop feels much larger than the small target area on MT3 and not nearly as flat as MDA.

I don’t find it annoying because my hands tend to stay fairly dry, but the keycaps do tend to feel a bit sticky if your hands are even the slightest bit damp. They’re so smooth that I think some surface tension/adhesion comes into play.

I find HSA a lot more usable than SA. I have small hands and don’t use a wrist rest - but I’m also fine with MT3. I have to be at a standing desk to use SA comfortably, but HSA was immediately comfortable and intuitive for me.

Both have a grip to their texture-less surfaces, but I think HSA is a lot more fun to look at. HSA has a more consistent surface quality than SP SA, but less consistent legend thickness.

Inconsistent legends is probably the only meaningful caveat I’ve run into with it. If JTK can get that under control for HSA like Tera did for MT3, I’ll probably start collecting it and putting it on keyboards I use a lot. Nothing quite like a set that’s already shiny from the get-go.

No one should be paying full price for keycaps from Vala since they seem to do sales every other week it feels like lol

Both the beige set and black set look really good. Not a fan of the color for the green accent with the beige, but I just won’t use it. Susu looks nice. Definitely more of a vintage vibe with that warmer gray and yellow legends. I still like the MT3 Susu, too. The warping on the space bar does seem acceptable, but dang, they’re going to get roasted on reddit for it not being flat.

I don’t have a Norbaforce anymore but this is pretty cool. I suppose the ultimate “stock” Norbaforce would be a Veracity steel w/ the wool dampener plus the SS back-plate and this riser to prop it up. I think that’d be around $2k? (admittedly the Veracity Steel would be doing most of the work on the price).

It’s funny because the Norbaforce already has risers. I honestly think it takes away from the look of the board.

Not sure about Norbaforce Riser but I do think similar accessory with replaceable inserts of different materials and patterns could significantly enhance keyboard acoustics at reasonable cost and convenience.

GMK Hyperfuse is back … and the base kit is $224 USD :smiling_face_with_tear:

EDIT: My bad, the website was set correctly to CAD for once. It’s still 159 USD like the other websites.

Funny that they are doing this now that there are a million clones out there.

I saw that today too. But I’m confused. This is also a group buy listed on typemachina. Oco/Typemachina is in the US, right? Why does the US have 2 vendors? Maybe Kono is working as the Canadaland merchant?

Kono’s shipping to Canada is alot more expensive than Oco, so I don’t know about that. Having these 2 vendors running this set feels like choosing your poison. My first thought was maybe it’s just to ease the load for Oco? But then like who still buys GMK at this price in 2023 unless it’s less than 100-120 USD? Who still wants to buy from vendors that are incapable of doing their job? Confusing.

Need stackable switch containers on the cheap?

Allcaps has theirs at 50% off right now, putting them at a ridiculous <$2 USD each!
