Drop released a $149 pre-built polycarb TKL with interchangeable top case: CSTM80. There’s also a barebones version for $99. Additional polycarb top cases are $25 each and aluminum top cases go for $59. Price is a lot more palatable than some of their more recent boards.

Yeah, I actually really like this product. At least the way it looks.

Great design, looking forward for a 65% version.

Agreed. I’m curious to see how well it works in practice, but in theory I think it’s a clever idea and priced reasonably. I’ll wait for reviews to address my reservations:

  • Does the top wiggle around if I move the board on my desk?
  • Are the tops going to arrive with some warp or are they stable?
  • How are the acoustics? Are there any hollow rattles?

I’d like to see a FRL TKL personally, but 65% would be nice too.

I think it came out better than I was expecting - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLUTQZE91MA

The top looks pretty sturdy.

Yeah it actually looks like a super solid starter board. They had me fooled, I thought they were gonna try to go all out with something “high end”. This a total 360 to that & something I’d definitely recommend to a friend that just wants a nice keyboard TBH.

I was just watched Brian’s review and was coming here to post the same link. I’m honestly impressed by how well built it is and all the planning that went into it.

It definitely feels like a great option for a pre-built or for anyone interested in an entry level board they could customize without spending a fortune. Having a bunch of top case options at launch and a few weight upgrades is a smart move. Lots of nice little touches like the threaded inserts too.

Originative is now also selling their sets on Kono… so one somewhat sketch vendor is now selling their keycaps on a slightly less sketch vendor.

Plus Kono acting like taking $20 off the Oco tax is a great deal or something

I wanna know where all the skeletor accent sets went. First Oco stripped the escape keys out of them, and now they’re gone. I’d buy Skeletor in a heartbeat if I could get the original full accents.

I like how they’re using TypeMachina as a decoy and use Kono to try and trick people into thinking they got it for so much cheaper, even though the price is about the same before Originative became TypeMachina, lol.

Signature Plastics’ PimpMyKeyboard is now SPKeyboards which is maybe unfortunate just because the new name sounds almost like a slur if you don’t spell out the first letters.

These look kinda cool.

I like the new name a lot. I’ve had a habit for years now of referring to PMK as Signature Plastics because I don’t want to tell people about the nice keycaps I own that I purchased through “pimp my keyboard”. It’s so dated.

New storefront name, better packaging, keycaps on sale… I’m liking this new face of SP

Also I just went to the storefront and it appears they are moving over to Shopify. Possibly another positive change. We shall see

New Shopify site at SPKeyboards seems to have order history saved back to at least 2018. I know I had older orders that went back to 2013 or so but at least the orders are easier to read now. Also, the 7u space bar on DCS midnight is missing again but I already told Melissa and she’s getting it re-added.

I’m so proud of myself right now. :upside_down_face:

How are they?

The old name was so cringe. I’m assuming it was a reference to Pimp My Ride that stuck around quite a bit longer than it should have, but glad to see they finally dropped it.

Avert your eyes if you hate shiny keycaps. Vala Supply has HSA Pink Powder available now.
