Interesting Finds & Heads-Ups

SGI Alps keyboards at the VCF swap meet. One with white alps and one with undamped cream alps. Two hours left at the meet…

$70 each. Pained me not to buy but I have too much stuff!

These usually sell pretty quickly on eBay for $200-$250. I’ve been watching and bidding for about 5 years. Lol. But I would never pay that price for one unless it was in mint condition. Like you, I own too many things. And I actually own 3 of these already. $70 is a really fair price and a good deal since you wouldn’t have to pay extra for shipping. :slightly_smiling_face:

The switches clearly needed to be cleaned which clinched it for me. If the switches had been less scratchy I would have picked up at least one for sure.

It feels weird replying to myself but uhhhh, would you look at that a Vala sale lmao

holy crap. They’re about to go under ? Well I do seem to notice that a lot of incoming keycaps are through Vala. I guess they need to move product to make room?

For sure, they need some TLC. But you could pull the keycaps and wash them and resell for $150 in a few hours. But then again I have a lot of things I “could” sell… but I’m too lazy to work with people.

ngl I didn’t even notice it said that they’re going on clearance indefinitely O_o

Vala has always struck me as a very odd outfit. I’d never seen one company take on so many group buys. It was enough that I’ve honestly avoided them because it just seemed sketchy. That said, they’re still here, so something must be working as far as their business plan goes.

Have we seen real pics of SA Fledgling? Thats the only set on sale at Vala I would consider:

All I’ve seen is some in packaging underneath DCS Vert kits on the group buy page for that set

Looks quite nice to me.

there’s a Titanium version that costs 3.5k usd for just the case itself, without the riser

I know split space and Alice/Arisu users aren’t prominent on Keebtalk but I thought it was worth noting that with no fanfare SP started making convex short spacebars for SA keycaps, whereas previously they were concave and less comfortable. Some folks in the 40s community ran a GB for them last year and they have been available since.

The new round of SA Retro is shipping with the new, convex short bars.

Now if they just get some convex molds for DCS small bars. At least I don’t think they’ve got them yet could be wrong as there was a good bit of DCS GBs recently.

Might just be the Shop App, but NK has GMK Nightlife for sale/pre-order up, but it’s not on their site

I remember a couple of years ago vendors and SP talking about convex DSA short spacebars “coming soon”, but they never materialized. I’m assuming the bottom dropped out of the hobby before any kind of production happened. Maybe we will get them during the next global pandemic :crossed_fingers:.

It’s live on on their site now.

Also, an FYI to anyone thinking about picking up in-stock stuff from NovelKeys… Mike said they’re going to have some pretty amazing sales this month. So much that they’re not running their typical Friday discount items until them. I bet they have a ton of inventory at this point, so I’m thinking some seriously low prices to move products.

Have patience and buy on sale!

Thanks for the heads up! I was getting ready to message Mike & Alex as to what happened with the fri sales. The more you know… LOL!

Invokeys releasing a few new switches this weekend, including a new linear from Aflion that uses PBT bottom housings. Neat!

The listing for the new Aflion ones is up on their site but not yet “in stock” as of posting:

The other three new switches aren’t listed on the site yet, but likely will be in the very near future.
