@online That would be pretty awesome! That would make the decision to get the Pro 3 variant a lot easier if there are plans to make Pro 2 components compatible.
@closer_to_the_metal I don’t think PFU ever really plans to sell individual components - people have damaged their ribbon cables opening the Hybrids and to my knowledge, PFU never agreed to sell a replacement ribbon cable. In terms of why I think the Pro 3 variant is ultimately a ‘better’ choice is because if thinking super long terms, like 10 years from now - if the Pro 3 follows the Pro 2 trends, it will likely still be available - whereas Pro 2 will probably be extremely expensive or generally not available if your PCB dies. If I’m paying $700-$1400 for a keyboard case, I’m definitely planning on using it forever - and I hope to live a few more decades a least, lol.
Anyone know the why the Fujitsu online store uses a different model/part numbers for the Pro Classic than everywhere else? (ie. CG01000-296201 vs PD-KB401W)
Just ordered K2 with pink plate for pro2 (intending to use with hasu controller). Absolutely psyched. This is an amazing project. I can’t believe how much I just spent on a case. Now to source some hipro caps…
ha. get ready to spend the same amount on keycaps! Great color choice. I’ve missed out on some raffles and held off buying things for a while now, so I’m going to splurge for the stee. But K2 is my next choice for sure. And pink plate all the way.
Those going for the pink plate, are you thinking this will be clearly visible when keycaps are installed? I like the pink look but white seems like it might be the safer option
Yes, you will see it. It will be in the shadows of the board, but you can see the plate slightly when seated and very clearly from overhead. This is true for stock caps as well as replacement caps that tend to have ever so slightly more gap between the keycaps.
The failed drop case was super flawed, but some people still wanted it because there were no other options. And that was several years ago. With how much the hobby has picked up, particularly this year, I could see this being pretty damn popular.
I ordered mine as soon as I saw the email. Now I just need to ‘forget’ about it so I’m pleasantly surprised when it finally arrives.
I’m curious if everyone isn’t just using “hasu controller” as a pejorative or if they are really referring to this specific controller. I can’t recommend the Yang controller enough both because it seems like a better choice for the heavy grail because of the issue you raised here, as well as for its better battery life.
That switch on the yang controller is only to turn on or off the use of the battery. It isn’t something you would operate with any regularity at all as. Not sure if the Hasu controller operates similarly.
Yang ble controller is far better than Hasu controller in term of battery life. If you want bluetooth, go with Yang.
I’m using yang controller in Heavy-6 housing without cutout on the cover, I just left it always on.
One feature I really like about yang controller is the low power lock mode, it consumes so little power that I left it for a month and it still has 50%+ battery life remaining.
I agree, I was simply referring to the switch part. I personally use Yang in one of my boards already for that matter. Some people run Hasu controllers for QMK however, which unfortuantely you can’t do with Yang
I’ve been thinking about it. Garrett over at Dixie has been wanting me to.
Fujitsu and Topre are both terrible about anything that deviates from their standard rigid processes, so I doubt they’d ever sell parts. Believe me, I have firsthand knowledge from trying to explore a partnership with them (despite the fact that there were multiple people at both companies who wanted to do something with me) and it never quite working out due to administrative and organizational encumbrances.
And, yes, those damned Pro 3 internal cables break way too easily, quickly rendering an expensive keyboard totally useless.
For sure. I’ve got several in the works. One of the projects is even more ambitious than the Heavy Grail, though that likely won’t be ready until maybe end of 2021 at earliest.
