And now I’m blind. Ha.
Big thanks to both @rooski15 and @Dave for finding ways to make the PC Heavy-6 even more fun. Also, it’s nice to have USB-C on the board now as well
Summer Sunday funday:
- KBD67L Lavender case
- Smaller clear bumpon feet
- KBD67 MKII V3 soldered PCB
- Thin PCB foam layer
- R1 Polycarb plate, standoffs omitted
- Gazzew Boba LTs
- TX stabs in white; 205/206 blend
- GMK Serenity
Making a few Gateron Yellows temporarily gross for science. Using the tried and true diamond paste + a touch of toothpaste, I’m cycling these to see how the materials take to polishing. I suspect the stems will be nice since they’re POM. We’ll see how the housings turn out since they’re more of a mystery. At absolute worst, it’s 3 switches lost. But I’m hopeful this is an option for these as I’d like to do something other than just lubing them with 205 to minimize their imperfections.
Finally had a chance to assemble my Vega 65 last night!
This is what I’d consider my first “high end” keyboard but I was concerned that it would be anti-climatic considering the 18 months I needed to wait for it. Fortunately, it’s every bit as nice as I was hoping it would be! From right out of the box, the e-white finish was flawless and the PCB is honestly a work of art on its own:
In a happy accident, the switches I had planned to use in this board (Harimau tactiles) turned out to match the colors of the case, the PCB, and the traces perfectly (white, dark gray, orange):
Finally, I decided to combine the dark blue alphas and mods of MT3 Dasher and Dancer to keep a clean and classic look for the overall board:
I was working on bringing a really rusty and faded 91u donor board back to life. Also gave it USB C just for fun. The before picture doesn’t look too bad but in person it was not great.
Before
After
That’s really nice.
Thank you! I tried to use a “vintage” color and I think this gray was perfect.
Getting ready for a brass/blue/clear build on this Q2. Going with the brass plate, Loobed Gateron North Pole linears (thanks loobers), clear zeal stabs with gold wires, and I’m waiting on a set of PBTFans Neon keycaps to go on top. I also left out the plate / PCB foam so I could get more LED diffusion (what else is the point with clear switches and clear stabs )
Do you mind me asking what those circular impressions are on the plate? Are they perforated cutouts or something?
I think they are where the standoffs are on the other side of the plate. Where I put the screws in to secure the PCB to the plate.
Received a replacement case as mine broke on delivery. Also replaced switches and caps. I installed new stabilizers TX version 3 white at 1.6, switches epsilons and caps epbt sav-81.
I modded my first mouse, my new Logitech G403.
I felt the encoder was very indistinct and the button switches had a really deep engagement point which led to a lot of mis-clicks.
- Replaced the mouse switches with Kailh GM 8.0.
- Replace the rotary encoder with the Kailh Sealed Encoder (9mm height).
I didn’t take any pictures of the work, but there’s a little post-op with the excised parts sitting, forlorn, on the mouse pad.
All-in-all, I’m pleasantly surprised how much this improved a fairly decent mouse.
Yesterday I made alice.
And today I made tiger80.
The darker pictures are the real color.
And the photo that is lighter, this is what the camera does.
The color is very dark in keycaps.
The main switches are Gateron Oil King. Stock. And the top row is EMT Linear Switch.
I was feening for some new switches to try and forgot I had some Thic Thoc Marshmallows lying around that never really got enough love. Also had some leftover 63.5g Symmetrical Long Springs from Kineticlabs! Decided to spring swap and I actually like the switches a lot better now. Scratched an itch, saved some space and saved some money at the same time. big W.
This spacebar is bananas
Domikey Singlechip
I bought keycaps not for Tiger80.
And for another keyboard. But she hasn’t arrived yet.
The format is 65 there, so I don’t have a space for 7u. (
There is a 7u from the houses from another set, but it is black.
But I wanted to try. How will it look and how will the sound of typing.
PBT Double-shot Blue White XVX Profile Keycaps
Very cool base. 184 pieces.
Very cheap for the price.
That’s why there are scratches. Capslock photo.
But there are 3 capslock sizes
The sound is good. The thickness is good.
Using MX Blues on my Ciel. Wanted to test how good my self control is.
