Had this all ready for my Null design 65% case that just arrived. This one is oak with brass accents. Also, it has the newly design feet for a small incline. When I think of oak and brass it feels a bit kitsch. I think it might be because it reminds me of my mother’s 1980s prized oak dining table and chairs that she was so proud of, along with brass candlesticks. You know the kind, the ones that look like this. Random ebay photo, but hers were nearly identical.
Anyway, I feel like Dandy (daisy) lends itself very well to the same vibe.
Also tried CRP because I’ve had it unopened for months. It looks nice but I really don’t like how the caps muddy the feel of the bouncy haimu switches.
My favorite combination was the POM top and bottom with an LY stem.
Triple Stage 63.5g Wuque spring.
These are quite nice. Nothing revolutionary, but they do everything well. Good medium clack, snappy but not cumbersome spring, no weird noises, tight top housings, exceptionally smooth on presses from all directions. The wobble is the biggest weakness, on par with most modern Durock or Gateron switches. Took a while to lube them all by hand but it was definitely worth the effort.
Call me dumb but I never actually realized the difference films could make. These Gat Beers are so dang rattly and thin sounding. They’re lubed already so all I’m doing is adding films–and what a difference. Immediately tightened up the rattle.
My only problem is I only have 1 sheet of films left lol
I 3D printed some DMK inspired trays (basically ripped off their dimensions) to fit MT3 keycaps. Couldn’t find any good space efficient trays for SA or MT3. There’s the JTK Max trays but those are huge–and expensive.
These cost about 75 cents each tray to print; the biggest cost is time. It’s about 2 hours per tray, so I’m looking at like 10 hours print time for one set (4 trays + lid).
But I’m pretty happy with how these turned out. I can upload the files later if anyone wants.
Yeah I debated that for a while. Laser would just involve assembly and more costly materials. With PLA I’m able to get 0.5mm walls with 0.35 offset for the fit (obviously, would be different for every brand of filament)–and no assembly! lol I’m lazy; can’t beat pulling it off the print bed ready to use
Lacks some rigidity though, but I plan to keep it out of the sun and in a drawer or on a shelf somewhere anyway!
Here it is on top of the DMK style trays with my entire MT3 Serika kits. Slightly smaller footprint, and infinitely stackable.
Then I put Hammerhead Light on it and the spacebar is driving me nuts. There was no Light alpha colored split space bars anyway, and I don’t think the Dark split space would even work (it’d probably look like a small mustache). The sets I do have, the closest is PBTFans Kabukicho R2 split space, and on paper the Ramenstop white looks kinda close but IRL looks too white.
Seriously need some suggestions if any of you mix-and-match experts have any similar sets.
I think the Kabukicho spacebar is more in line with the whole Hammerhead theme, but the white is giving Trackday vibes.
Really curious about GMK Pacific because those spacebars are still in stock, but I can’t find color codes and renders/pictures all look different. Does anyone here have that set and wouldn’t mind taking some pictures or just confirming if it’s a grey or blue alpha?
Nice. Any issues getting switches to click in? I know it sometimes depends on the switch manufacturer as well as the accuracy of the PC from sheet to sheet.
None so far. HMX switches click in fine as do most Gats. These Outemu Ice Purples fit perfectly too. The ones that don’t click in fully, I find they have issues with other plates as well. I guess the sheets I got have pretty good specs.
I just wish I got the CO2 laser instead of the diode. Kicking myself every day for that mistake lol
Filmed a batch of mx1a cherry blacks that I lubed and spring swapped over a year ago. I mean I always thought filming tightens up any rattle but I never realized it actually deepens the pitch quite a bit as well.
Late to the party but I get the lubed+filmed Cherries hype now. Woops
