What did you order or think about ordering?

Oh my goodness, that guy is next level! A daughterboard mount should be very doable right from the start, though.

I browsed a lot on YouTube about the Glitter65 series of keyboards, it looks noob friendly and very easy to assemble, which appeals to me, I’m thinking about buying their R2, do you guys have any suggestions?

The R1 was not very intuitive or easy to assemble, I had some real issues with it. However, the R2 looks to have addressed most if not all of those issues. I personally love the unique design and would absolutely build one. Let us know how it goes if you dig in!

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I also like its design and I will consider whether to buy it. Once I buy it, I will share my build experience with you.

Alexotos has a build vlog for the Glitter65 R2 on his YT channel I believe. IIRC it still had some issues that could be worked out, but his build turned out pretty nice in the end. Id check that out for more info on it.

I guess since I’ve basically been at endgame with my advantages for a while, I need to find other ways to spice things up. So, got one of these ordered Mod Musings x WiredIn X-Ray Custom Cable – Divinikey

Ordered some chill-max sockets to try out.

They have this version where the bottom is sealed so no need to take extra care when soldering to prevent flooding the sockets.

Oh those look interesting… 4mm seems long but I’d be curious to see what it looks like once you’ve soldered some!

In other news, I bought some more switches.

I also watched Alexotos’ bulid video about Glitter65R2 on YT, and I felt that the experience would be very good. I’ve heard that some of the issues with R2 will be work out in the final delivery build. I think if I buy it, I will get the product without issues.

Interesting! Where did you find these for sale? Only link I could find was to StupidBulletsTech but they appear to be the regular open-ended kind (and also sold out).

Needs some stabs, trying a couple different cheap options:

Could have gotten both from the Jungle at twice the price - shipping, but no thanks.

My wife ran across one of those “creamy” keeb vids on TikTok and finally decided she wanted a board. She wanted to keep a numpad, so I found a good Amazon Resale deal on a Keychron K4 Pro in white with their Banana switches, then promptly gave most of the savings back to pay the Amazon tax on the MOA keycaps that were in the video she saw (believe the board was an Epomaker/Aula F75 with their Wisteria linears).

The thick PBT caps and densely packed foam and silicone ought to get her close enough for a first board, sound-wise. She is coming from a circular-keys membrane board, which seems to have an early tactile event, so I’m optimistic the Bananas will hit the spot. A little worried that the Keychron’s steel plate might make a big difference, but we’ll see.

Spun the Halloween wheel and got a $30 coupon for any Dorp board. CSTM65 already discounted from the original price, with the discount, $5 rewards, and free shipping. Not bad, Dorp, not bad.

Now… why do I need this board? 100% don’t. BUT… I think I’m going to customize this one myself. I sent my CSTM80 off to have it hydrodipped, and I love the results. But I don’t want to spend that much again. So, this time I’m planning to paint it myself. Worst case scenario, I can just order a new top for $25, right?

Now time to hit Home Depot and check out spray paint colors. Just what I needed, right? Another project!

I joined the Tess65 group buy on DiviniKey’s website and still have plenty of gift card balance left to load up on all those good stabilizers when they restock.

Less than $90 shipped for an aluminum gasket mount hot-swap kit with a polypropylene plate - $10 less if you’d prefer to solder - really not bad. Mostly went for this thanks to the gift card, but also because I’m still not sure if that Shark67 I ordered from Vala is going to happen or not and I’m aiming to build a beige 65 :stuck_out_tongue:

I love the look of that sage one with the brushed stainless steel. I’m hoping there will be extras available.

I bet /dev/tty with the Triumph-colored mods would look at home on that board. (it’s more saturated and darker than the images on Dorp make it seem)

I’ve had that exact configuration in my cart for like two weeks. Decided to pull the trigger on the GB tonight:

Not sure which keycaps I’ll use with it, but leaning strongly to HSA WoB or BoW; I think the glossy caps will contrast nicely with the matte finish. I’m curious to see how NK Cherry Sage pairs as well as the upcoming MTNU Skywriter set.

I read “Trump-colored mods” :blonde_man:  and I even don’t live in the US :us:.

MTNU Jasmine might look at home on that color, too.
