What did you order or think about ordering?

No problem bud! Just shoot me a PM on here if you can’t find anyone decently close to build it for you & we’ll figure it out from there if need be.

I got my Molly from TKC and was surprised how much I like it. Them never getting back about what stabilizers and other questions I had may have been indicative of the state of the business. Definitely worth $75, though!

Hey, many apologies for the (very) late reply!

Actually nothing at all special, as it turns out lol. The retros took a while to arrive, on the other end of the planet, but I have to say, their quality is superb…I now know what proper, custom keycaps are like. I had a decidedly non-custom board in mind, reasonable enough keychron q2 pro, but after trying it out the sliver chassis just didn’t fit to my liking. Had the bit cheaper P1 pro around which I hadn’t found caps for, and it fits like a glove…definitely improved by the U4Ts, anyway :+1:

Nice deep thocky sound, but the feel…it’s just amazing compared with everything else I’ve used previously. Beautiful.

Took advantage of TKC’s going-out-of-business sale to pick up some TKC Blackberry switches. Their switch bundles include 100 switches, a randomly selected switch opener, a pack of C³Equalz Switch films, and a brush kit:

Got another set of MMD Vivian 53g linears. This switch has a distinct tangy sounds when matched with thinner keycaps. It’s delightful enough for me to dedicate a rotation board since I got it. BTW, I may have mis-mentioned as MMD Princess in one of my posts. Never tried that switch bc 3.2mm key travel is too short for me.

My original set is from UniKeyboards but KREPUBLIC had light-tube version (5-pin) at similar price (70x for $28.05) with free shipping. This second set will be used to make a tactile set using Geon Baby Blue stems. Tactility is lower than that of same tactile stem in OG Bobba LT housing but I like light but well defined tactility so eager to find out how this set will turn out.

Thinking about grabbing some of these WAVE switches when they enter GB. [Instock] Unikeys Udon Linear Switch/Unikeys Waves Rail Bottom-Out linear Switch

Couple of people on here were chatting about the HMX Snow Crashes and them being interesting. Figured I would give this a chance since they worked through the lubing issues that were present in the Snow Crash first batch.

Also currently debating on whether or not I want to get in on KKB Cherries or the GMK Darling V2 set. Cherries would arrive to me faster…

Unikeys X BSUN Waves Linear Switch Sound Test

Unikeys X BSUN Udon Linear Switch Sound Test

Hmm. Just going by the sound test, I like the sound of Udon more than Waves.

They are both great! Udons are traditional long pole bottom out though. My main interest was rail bottom out since I haven’t tried that yet

Wonderful!

It’s always nice to have more housings for building light-tactiles.

Will have some Boba LT experiments soon, as well. Going to try MX Brown, probably Blueberry Chiffon, maybe KTT Mallo & Zealio V1.

What spring weights are you going to use with the MMD housings, if I may ask?

Stock MMD Vivian 53g spring with bottom weight 60g. They don’t say it’s Korean but it’s pretty decent.

This series of pictures by markerchun made me want these keycaps:

His pictures always remind me how good these keyboards can look and how I really need to take better pictures git gud :joy:

Keyset in the photo looks more polished than photos on the product.

I doubt it was buffed using a tool. ABS literally melts using tools like Dremel, even at relatively low RPM.

Could be a bit of wax or even light filter to tame illumination.

Pulled the trigger on the Wave switches and KKB Cherries. There are some interesting caps in the Cherry set. You get some translucent caps, a tiny little gradient thing, and some relegendables all in the base. Ultimately these unique features caused it to win out over Darling in my mind.

Although… I might pick up Darling as an extra when we get there lol. I am sure Novelkeys is buying a decent amount of extras.

Any tips on the nozzle? Would the default N61-08 with 1mm opening / hole be be best for desoldering switches?

I have a different desoldering gun, but I can confirm that 1mm works best for desoldering switches. That is for the high-end 1mm tips which have a broad flat surface at the tip, transferring more heat.

Stay away form the cheap Aliexpress tips; those only have a small rim, offering limited contact area for heat transfer.

Desoldering tips appear to be consumables. I typically wear off one per keyboard. So be sure to order plenty.
