How does it compare against Cycle7 FRL TKL other than price difference?
A big factor for me is that the xox70 is currently in stock. I don’t know about the Cycle7. It’s crazy value for the product you get. It seems… too good to be true. I’ve seen it happen many times at this point. I wish them the best. They’re going to have a TON of orders. I might even pick one up if they have extras at some point.
- housings - $48 (4 x $12)
purples, clears, or the offwhites?
They all appear to be same price.
yuh i just wanted to see an all purple build. mostly bc i too am crying at the prices–my shit is all TKL or 1800, so MXing my boards is always $$$$
You might want to check Thocc Supply. I think they may have already done extras, this was on the 6th in their Discord “XOX Extras + PE Edition + THICCC shirts go live this Sunday at 9.30am AEST (we know it’s early for our Aussie comrades, but we want to give our Murican friends a chance too :murica:)”.
I picked one of these up but I am in the unfortunate situation where the NA vendor was Mechs&Co. From everything I have heard these have already been paid, so there is no reason not to ship them out. However last I heard, Mechs&Co basically has no one really doing shipping because they can’t pay them due to cash flow issues. I don’t think doing a charge back is the right thing to do, but it sucks to think it may take months for this board to ship to me across the states purely because there is not enough people to put a label on it and send it out. Of course all of this is made worse by the fact that there is no communication because the vendor is overwhelmed.

Any one got any advice? If you can’t afford to ship stuff out, should I try and get out of this? Hard to make a decision without any sort of “official” update.
I mean, if you can, I say get out. Unfortunately I ordered a Hulbble 65 back in 2021. So it’s $500 down the drain for me.
Hoping someone will buy their inventory and sell at a discount.
This strikes me as a situation where the responsible party will not take action unless absolutely forced to. I understand a business is someone’s baby and livelihood but the level of inaction here seems wildly irresponsible.
It’s possible they could be acting under the advice of an attorney. Best to just shut doors and deal with it all in court than to keep making statements that might not hold up and dig a deeper hole.
Some Durock T1s
I posted about a week ago about having bought Durock Blue Lotus, which is the newer generation T1 with a long pole but still having 3.7mm travel, which I figured would be enough. Turns out its just barely enough for me to use daily, but not what I would want to have in my main “endgame” keyboard, which is a Mode Sonnet. I really tried using these but the long pole is just too harsh for me, and the extra stem wobble when the switch is bottomed out is honestly kind of distracting when playing games. The Aliexpress page for Durock Store tends to sell switches that are the most up to date in terms of variants - the Durock Shrimps and JWICK T1s I bought a few months ago both have two thick pins instead of the older style pins, and neither of those were advertised to have those on launch so I think all newer batch switches will have these. A recent review image on the site confirms this as well.
Funny, in 2021 I started out with a GMMK Pro and Durock T1s, and now I’ve gone full circle to a premium 75% with Durock T1s again. I had a really long spell in between with Ergo Clear style switches and while I do still like them for the ease of typing, I think my favorite feel is 3.8mm+ travel top bumps with little pre-travel. Just sucks that T1s are still some of the only reasonably priced switches that do that tactility without long poles.
Definitely better to cease operating, imo. But if they were following legal advice that would likely include shutting down their website as well, wouldn’t it? If they’re not fulfilling orders as reported then just seems like an avenue for creating more problems.
Decided that I want to get a second keyboard. I’ve been using a KBD67 lite for about 2 years now. I went from having Gateron black inks installed, to Boba U4s over a year ago. I just needed a quiet board for work. I kinda miss the feeling of the inks, which I gave to a friend.
So a couple of weeks ago I started looking at new boards, and was kinda amazed at all the affordable options available now. Right now I’m trying to decide between:
- Mode Envoy - I think it looks a little plain, but most reviews I’ve seen seem pretty positive.
- Mode Sonnet - This is a little pricier than I would like, but I do really like the look of the board. The curved bottom, and the top accent look really nice.
- Vertex Angle65 - Hopefully releases sometime this year? Also might be on the pricier side like the Sonnet.
- TKD Cycle7 - I’m not sure if I’ll like the extra width of the board, but this seems to have a lot of neat features like the assembly method, and the flex plugs.
Are there any other 65% or 75% boards coming out soon, that looks interesting? I looked at the QK65, JRIS65 and Zoom65 as well, but I have small nitpicks with each that keep me from wanting them.
I did also buy a bunch of other stuff that I saw, while I was looking at new keyboards:
- MTNU Beige and Susu keycaps - I really hope I love these… I like how they look, and I do like the feel of spherical caps. I’m using KAT keycaps at the moment, which I really like.
- Tecsee Honeydew switches - Hopefully these are good? There doesn’t seem to be a lot of info about these besides this one video by TofuTypes.
- Also got a set of TX stabilizers and this cute froggy mat, during a Canada Day sale at Omega Keys.
Hello and welcome!
I bet the Honeydews will be good - I’ve enjoyed Tecsee’s other HPE-housing switches. It has the give and smoothness of UHMWPE, but doesn’t deform or shave as easily.
We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to middle-market keebs these days - I’m personally quite stoked to try the Envoy when it comes in.
I ordered some straight USB-A to USB-C cables for my keyboard. My keyboard stays on my lap while the laptop is on the table to the side. If I got one of those fancy coiled cables it would constantly be trying to pull my keyboard off my lap. The cables have some sort of woven covering and are green to match my keys.
I’m strongly considering to give a try to the Corne but I’m struggling to understand the pros and cons of the various versions and which one would be the best first choice.
I tried and failed to find Corne and cousins useful for work. For entertainment, all cool.
Viktus Styrka Topre kit extras is going on sale soon. The temptation!
How come? Way too steep learning curve? I’m skeptical too but at least building one seems fun
I found a channel on YouTube of someone who makes it seem quite practical actually.
It didn’t take long to learn to use the layout but having it my daily rotation along side mostly 60% boards became a source of distraction.
