The Topre Thread (TTT)

Here you can talk about Topre switches!
Here is my opinion:
I haven’t tried them yet, but I’m really keen on trying it out; I think I will like them really much. They are so hard to find and it’s making me kind of irritated! Like, I wish there were more main stream :sob: :sob:
Have yall tried it? And what is your opinion on them?

I have a question for you Topre lovers.

I am about to buy Deskeys domes and I am not sure of what to buy.
I am looking for something in between 45g and 55g stock domes in term of weight and tactility.

In the MX world I like round tactility switches like U4Ts or Zelios v2 65g but can’t type with them for too long without fatigue.

Saw the V3 domes that look to be right in my alley for a round (I don’t like sharp) tactility.
But I hesitate between Pink(42g) and Purple(49g) domes.

I’d be happy for any advice on this, even suggest other DES domes if you feel that they would be better suited for the job.

hio @Rico i really like the purple weighting, but i like them with the sharper tactility (the des v1 open dome style). i think if you are a fan of oem 55g (weight wise at least) you might also enjoy the carrots 49g and 60g offerings. the carrots 60g i especially like for feeling similar to oem 55g but it does have palpable tactility that helps with decreasing fatigue, especially if used with thicker silencing rings on shorter-travel sliders. pink for me is too light/too hesitant, v1 purple or carrots 60g would be my shopping choices.

pulling @Extra_Fox for thoughts on Des Blues (49?g?) and @dejusk for other thoughts i might be missing. i have very little des v2 use and zero v3 use so i cannot speak to how those feel

I quite like the blues. They feel quite crisp.

I would echo the 60g carrot sentiment. They’re one of my favorite aftermarket domes, and aren’t as fatiguing as 55g oem due to the shape of the tactile bump. I can type on them for much longer than I can 55g oem. The purple v1 domes are also very nice if you like binary tactility. I prefer the pink v1s over purples, but I also prefer lighter domes. Since you want ~45-55g the purples will definitely be up your alley.

Thank you all for your feedbacks !!!

I have been enjoying Densus Design domes, sliders, and housings on a couple of my EC boards. I have them in 35g, 45g, and 55g and find the 45g on alphas and 55g on mods, num row, and spacebar seem to be pretty solid for me, but have also tossed 35g domes on the “pinky keys” just to try it out.

If I went went one weight for the entire board, I’d probably go 55g though.

Hope that helps!

Does anyone have any experience with the EC PCB and Plate for the Monkei Kei V2?

The EC PCB and plate combos are still available and I was wondering if they are solid - you never know with an EC kit if its going to be good.

@lensoflucas how’s this board long term homie
