Sillyworks x Gateron Type R Switch Review

Hey all,

The first full length review of 2025 is here and I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off another calendar year of switch reviews than with a truly never before seen style of switch. This week I take a deep dive into Sillyworks and their “100% Tactile” collaboration with Gateron in the form of the Sillyworks x Gateron Type R switches.

As always, thank you all for the continued support leading into yet another year of writing about switches. I’ve got a lot of fun ideas I’m planning on, working on, and hoping to release in 2025 and I hope you’ll all be here to see them when they go live!

Cheers,
Goat :goat:

Now these sound interesting enough to pick up - thank for letting us know what they’re all about!

Wasn’t somebody on Keebtalk asking for exactly this back before Christmas? A Tactile with no linear zone in the force curve?

Yep - thought about that too, and since you mentioned it I went ahead and linked this post from that one :+1:

This is probably the closest thing I could image to the “no pre travel” switch.

A lot of switches start the bump at the beginning of the keystroke unlike cherry tactiles. I think what makes this switch unique is that the bump continues all the way to bottom.

Edit: I just realized that was your post that was requesting that switch :stuck_out_tongue:

Isn’t the Harimau switch pretty close / all tactile bump?

Also the Tecsee Green Jacket tactiles are almost completely bump (very small linear travel at the end)

But isnt that a clicky switch??

nope Harimau Switch Review — ThereminGoat's Switches

Well of course the Harimau is really close, but I was referring to the Green Jacket being a clicky (you know, implying a click jacket?).

lol funny. knckeys had a “jacket” series to tie in with squid game season 1. the red jacket was an aflion-made linear. the green jacket had both a linear and tactile KNC Keys Green Jacket 1.5 Linear Switches – KNC Keys LLC (looks like the tactile is no longer available)
