Osume changed my mind about smooth keycaps

I’ve tried out a handful of keycap type material and while I still enjoy the rough texture feel of something like MT3, Osume’s sets have shown me there’s room in my heart for smooth, high quality PBT.

I’ve had them for just under a week and it took a couple of days to wonder if it wasn’t another case of buyer’s remorse. But they’ve grown on me.

The legends are like a footnote, allowing the colors to stand out. The thickness of the caps make for some wonderfully thunk-y typing when combined with a heavy switch like the Zeal Clickiez and a hollow board with the feet up. (Feet down and they transform into a clickers paradise.)

I’m not sure what to compare the feel of typing on them to; they’re smooth and dry, and the edges are just curved enough to remind you they exist.

The packaging is wonderfully designed, with square plastic sleeves and a sturdy box, even if I was afraid separating the two halves of the sleeves would send the caps flying. Each sleeve having an imprint letting you know which row it corresponds to is a nice touch.

I don’t know if I’ll keep them as my daily driver set forever, but they’re certainly display worthy if I rotate them out for something else.

Have you tried MTNU?
Because this is what I found with them - most smooth surface and with perfectly shaped dish the most ergonomic to type on.
Even the retro style is not my preference they are only profile I want forward!

I haven’t but I am curious to check them out.

Oh did you get the marshmellow profile or the cherry profile? I missed the night market cangjie set, so hoping that comes back in stock, but I’m so curious about the marshmellow profile. I’m also keeping an eye on the PBS profile - PBT, uniform, and designed by the same person who designed MTNU: Introducing PBS Profile – CannonKeys. Could be a good one to try!

I went with the cherry profile because I prefer a more sculpted look and feel, but that PBS profile is something I also want to try out down the line.
