Gee-whiz that’s a lotta deskmatten
Plot twist: Jae bid on everything and wants to keep the prices low, low, low.
But really though, it’s crazy to see that much inventory unsold. Even at a loss or at-cost pricing, most vendors would have gotten rid of all that less popular inventory to not have to absorb a complete loss of the wholesale cost and to free up storage space that could be used for more popular products. Though I suppose that’s less surprising on a business that went under…
From one of the listings:
That’s ridiculous. How was this a viable business (or even half-viable, as it was for most of its existence)?
Daring Run has a bunch of B-stock extras available for the DR-70F for $99. Fantastic deal on a great board with really nice custom carrying case.
There are also A-stock and B-stock versions of the Flip 6p available. A-stock is $170 but B-stock saves $50.
I see a few keysets that I paid for, in there. I bet quite a few of these are unsent stock.
Yeah, unfortunately most likely. Like that custom PC company that imploded & Gamers Nexus covered. They had a warehouse full of orders ready to ship & RMAs in all phases of that process. I’m pretty sure it all got auctioned off to repay the companies debt. Pretty shity how that goes.
AEboard EC switches previewed on GeonWorks YouTube channel (use English CC)
Key details:
- Compatible with MX accessories like plates, stabs, and pads. Bottom part of the switch is 5mm.
- HE version should also work with most if not all HE boards as is. Dead-zone introduced by the rubber dome means existing HE boards will need to be re-calibrated before use.
- Good switch design with many little details like spring and domes designed to fit into the switch so it can be installed as a single unit without falling apart.
- No info yet on availability and pricing.
Looking forward to reviews. As to price, I think they can be sold for more than $1 but no more than $1.50 per switch. Early adopter demand for EC and HE is there.
Pretty darn cool. I still have some hesitation because the last switches they designed (Raeds and Blaecks) actually break when you try to disassemble them. And they are dry from the factory with really pingy springs. Seems like a pretty big detail to overlook… But maybe this has more eyes and hands on it to catch simple errors.
the only thing that is missing from making this perfect (but limited to the design) is having a MX pin out, so its possible to use it in your generic PCB
To do that, both the rubber dome and spring will have to be made small enough to fit within the switch housing. That would not feel that great.
fair point.
or go the stupid route and go up, past where the plate meets the switch. Sure this may seem dumb, but this will have enough height to clear the MX pins and other stuff to fit the domes and such, even if they make the keys stupid tall lol.
KAM playground finally available
Also available on Novelkeys. Wasn’t this set dark blue? Am I crazy or is it just black now?
Also this quirky and glossy KAM set on the Keyreative site:
I’m not a PCB designer, but it’s possible to make a translation layer right? A very thin “pcb” at the bottom of each individual EC “switch” that has two surface-mounted “pins” that attach to traditional PCBs?
While not quite the same, I did see a post that the Blue Ridge keyboard will have a hybrid PCB designed by Cipulot that will support both MX and EC. I think Alexotos will be streaming a build today.
So you’re saying like an adapter?
Actually no, more like a second PCB under?
I think it is just one PCB that has the circle sensor pads (not sure what these are called) like a usual EC PCB but also has holes for MX switch pins.
If I remember their very fist set made was also glossy, it was not reverse dye sub though.
I think that’s correct. I think the first KAM set was either Starry Night or Little Pilot. Both were shiny, right? The glossy KAM profile was my favorite out of all of the keycaps in the Keyreative Sampler pack that came with my BoW purchase.
Yes, was Starry Night !
Keyreative reverse die sub job is getting absolutly superb, having glossy caps does not allow any errors as they would be instantly visible.
The level of black in 404 is very homogenous.
I was already impressed by my WOB reverse die sub KAT Refined caps, but this is yet another level.
