Dasher Nights is a dark take on the Data General Dasher colorway from the 1970s, in tall sculpted SA profile.
It was designed to stand on its own, but also to be able to mix with and extend a number of older sets, adapting them to modern layouts. It uses two popular shades of blue, BFU (Danger Zone) and BBJ (Dancer), chosen to try to make it mix-and-matchable with as many older blue sets as possible.

Thanks! This was my first design ever, with the mandate to use up stock colors from SP in the event they couldn’t find a buyer. So it’s not quite as ambitious as SMRT and Selectresque wound up being later on, but I’m hoping folks still like it. I learned a lot from this experience, and my newer stuff wouldn’t have been possible without this.
Thank you! I really hope this does okay. In a lot of ways it’s a throwback to the 2010s, especially with so many child kits. But that’s what they wanted, so we’ll see. I’d love for this to succeed well enough that they greenlight SMRT. Last I heard they were interested, but hadn’t put it into a production slot yet.
It’s striking when you see the color comparison renders because it’s quite different from anything out there, yet such a seemingly obvious colorway.
I honestly kept going back through Matrix’s SA archive, to make sure that specific combo hadn’t been used before, because surely it had to have been, right? There are some sets not in SA profile that are close, I’ll readily admit. I started getting nervous that I had subconsciously ripped off MT3 Dusk for a while, before getting my hands on it to compare it to SP’s color chips.
Hah! I was staying quiet here because I was thinking, “uhh are we just not mentioning that this is exactly the same colorway as MT3 Dusk?” Glad I was wrong about that!
Thanks! I originally wanted to go with custom colors, but changed them after Bob had said they wanted to get rid of resin they already had. I’m glad I did; I think the darker blue I wanted originally would have made it too close to Pulse. The earliest versions of this were a paler, duller light blue on an almost black navy.
Great looking set and it’s so nice to see SA getting some love. I’m so glad for new ownership and hope that SP can continue to operate and work with the community to create amazing sets like this.
Hope it goes well and looking forward to seeing more from you!
I have to admit, I probably wouldn’t have paid this much for an in-stock set with a fairly basic colorway, but I wanted to support your endeavors with SP
That’s great, thank you so much! A little more of this might clear up my imposter syndrome. I can’t wait to see it either, I haven’t even seen a photo of them at the factory yet, I just have my own renders.
My phone captures the navy perfectly. The accent blue has more green IRL than it shows here. But if you have dasher, you know what it looks like
Here is a color corrected photo that’s closer although IRL is more vibrant. Not much you can do with teals on iPhone. It always pushes to blue and omits the greens. I can add green tint in for an approximation on the accent, but then you see the countertop has a green tint as well.
I’ve always heard poor things about SP packaging (i.e. bags of loose caps). This looks, if not exactly friendly for putting back into storage after opening, quite good for getting them to you in good shape. Is that relatively new?
