Going from MX Browns to Zealio V2s is a big leap. That’s light-tactile right to heavy-tactile.
You might want to consider the in-between options, of which there are many.
You mentioned Gateron Clears. Those are actually linears, IIRC. I would instead recommend MX Ergo Clears, which are the next step up in tactility from MX Browns. [MX Purple are similar].
It’s possible to order hand-lubed MX Ergo Clears right from AliExpress, if that’s your thing.
After reading your post, I think maybe some kind of snappy light-tactile is what you should try next. Currently, Gateron Beer and Gateron Mini i are highly-favoured as a slightly more tactile and clicky switch, above MX Brown. Going higher still, you could try some Gateron Baby Kangaroo, which are very popular for providing what people consider just the right amount of snap and resistance.
AKKO makes a lot of switches that fit the bill. The latest are the AKKO Creamy Purple Pro. They are pre-lubed, sound snappy and consistent, and are sharper and clickier than MX Brown.
One option that’s not so cheap but interesting are Zealio V1R. They are a little heavier and more tactile than MX Browns, like Ergo Clears are, but are basically similar in bump shape. Just ‘more’ of it. [Durock Medium Tactile is an affordable alternative.] Finally, Gateron makes CAP Brown V2 and G Pro Brown 3.0 / Jupiter Brown, which are all more tactile and snappier than MX Brown. I find TTC Gold Brown Pro to be all of these things, and is great after being lubed with 3204.
As for keycap profiles, I prefer to use Cherry / DCS with light-tactiles. MT3 profile can be fun, but takes some getting used to.
PBT and thick keycaps tend to ‘dampen’ the perceived tactility of a switch, whereas ABS and especially thin keycaps will accentuate the tactility [and any weird sounds a switch makes].
DCS profile makes MX Browns better, IMHO
