I picked up a 96% gmmk 2 board off ebay for cheap and I was wondering if there are any switches that overcome the north-facing pcb/cherry keycap interference issue.
Or is it something I shouldn’t worry too much about?

There are plenty of options these days;
“Long-pole” or short-travel switches in general
Kailh Box switches with the circular / cylindrical stem shroud shape
Washers / shims
There are plenty of other manufacturers that have shaped their housings to avoid the issue on full-travel switches to varying degrees of success; that last option of washers and shims is for when that either doesn’t work out or isn’t present. Upgrade Keyboards has some, but sticking with the short travel or circle-box switches are safe options.
I went with a set of the Kalih Deep Sea Islet, appreciate the info.
Great choice, I use them on my daily work keyboard.
Some early runs have light diffusers that can interfere with caps, but newer ones have angled diffusers that don’t. If you happen to get the square ones that stick out too much, removing them is pretty easy.
I like these switches. Good choice IMO
