[GB] the Norbaforce Mark II

One of my advices is if you’re going to be doing the swap, may as well lube the slider rails for the housings for that smooth buttery topre goodness hehe.

Aside from that novatouching is a relatively simple process filled with annoyances like the amount of screws you’ll need to undo and do again, and dome alignment

Good point. Forgot to mention those. The Veracity finish units will take a bit longer. I didn’t like the samples I got from the last polishing shop I tried that was close to the machine shop and I found a better one here in the Bay Area, so the finishing on those won’t be able to start until the rest of the shipment arrives to me here. Those should still hopefully be ready just a few weeks (maybe 2-3) later, however.

Thanks for the transparency and professionalism as always.

It’s starting to SHIP!!! Need to start dismantling and lubing and silencing the RF87Us!

The good news is I got a new job in an office. The better news is I had an excuse to order a second Nordaforce and R2 since I am getting sick of schlepping this one board around.

Since I was initially torn between Aperture and Astrophysical. Why not both, indeed.

Hi all. I wanted to provide a quick update. A few of the Tactical finishes needed a bit rework to get them as cosmetically perfect as possible, which is happening now. The factory was holding the entire shipment for those, but it looks like that work at the anodizer might spill into next week, so we’re going to go ahead and do a partial freight shipment of just the powder coat finishes. So, with transit and assembly time, the updated timeline looks like shipping around the end of next week for the powder finishes and the week following for the anodized ones. I’m doing my best to nudge things along as fast as possible.

Is anyone here able to measure their Norbaforce MK I or Ghost MKII’s external dimensions for me? I’m thinking of getting a Pelican case but wanted to make sure I could accommodate standing the MK II in the case upright along with 2 or 3 other boards.

Good question! I’d like to go the same route.

Happy to provide this info:
385mm wide x 181mm deep x 22.5mm tall

Thank you Ryan!

I’m curious, which type of stainless steel is used for Veracity? Is it 304 stainless steel or some other alloy? That mirror polish is slick.

We must be getting very close to shipping! I’m so excited for this case!

It is indeed 304.

Indeed. I’ve been working fiercely for the past two weeks to get these out the door, and we’re almost there, but current public health scare has been slowing things down. Under-staffing both at the factory and the assembly/fulfillment facility started to happen immediately after I sent my last email update to GB participants, not due to anyone having symptoms at either location but just out of some people (very understandably) not wanting to show up at work out of fear. This initially caused the freight shipment to be delayed at the factory last week, but it is en route now and due to arrive tomorrow.

The situation here in the Bay Area is pretty fluid right now, but as of this hour the assembly/fulfillment center plans to be open tomorrow and getting these prepped for shipment. So, as long as FedEx is still operating here around the end of this week, we should be good.

In any case, I’ll make sure everyone has had a personal update by this weekend, hopefully in the form of a tracking number!

Stay safe, Ryan!

Yes, this is totally understandable given the current health concerns. I’m glad that people are choosing to act responsibly and hopefully that means slower spreading of the virus. Hope you are well Ryan and thanks for the update!

FedEx transports essesntial items so they will remain in operation. I am not aware of any of the FedEx opcos going through their manifests one by one to determine if shipped goods are essential or not. Simply some are, and some aren’t. Therefore, they stay working. Now, they could very possibly slow down the process, but it isn’t planned as of tomorrow.

But you know, things are changing pretty quickly lately. I am actually very happy about the pace at which we are moving. Probably not fast enough, but it’s more promising!

I dropped a supply of masks and gloves off at the fulfillment warehouse earlier today, and they confirmed that the Bay Area “shelter in place” order expressly exempts shipping facilities like theirs, as these are considered “essential” services. As a result, I expect the assembly and boxing process to start tomorrow. Nobody on their staff has any illness symptoms and, as discussed in another thread, the CDC believes that risk of any kind of transmission via shipped products is exceedingly low anyway, but just to be safe they’ll be using protective gear when handling the parts.

The shipment has arrived and is being expeditiously inspected, counted, boxed up, and shrink-wrapped as I write this.
