[GB] the Heavy-9: aftermarket housing for the Leopold FC980C and FC980M

Though I live in LA now, they ship from Silicon Valley still since that’s where the shipping warehouse I was using is based. I’m hoping to relocate things down here eventually, but that’s definitely a goal for the post-:mask: era.

Ah dang, I was hoping I’d get near instantaneous shipping  Bay Area isn’t too far away though!

I got my shipping email. It’s happening!

Haha. They’re moving too fast. I haven’t yet finished the assembly instructions video, but I’m working on it today and hope to post by evening.

I have to assume not all boards were shipped before the weekend, yeah? No rush, but lots of excitement.

I can’t wait until photos start surfacing. I would think these would be arriving at their destinations soon.

Sorry this took an extra day. Rendering the video out literally fried my computer, so I had to re-build my desktop from spare parts. Just let me know if any questions.

Correct. Shipping will resume on Tuesday. (Monday is Presidents’ Day in the US.)

Bummer about your computer dying! Definitely had me scratching my head when I saw the elastic bands :joy:

Here’s my K2 (I’m very much not a photographer)

And here’s a quick highlight of disassembling the stock case (there’s a 3rd screw in the middle that is probably hidden under a QC sticker. Might not be obvious. There are 8 clips around the edge that you’ll need to pry with a trim removal tool (or a credit card).

Awesome case, I’m loving it so far. Next stop, Retro Refrigerator.

are you using novatouch sliders on your FC980c?

The board in the K2 is a 980m. The 980c will wait for the retro case.

I got my K2 in today (earlier than it was supposed to) and it’s a sublime typing experience, to say the least! Looks and feels incredible. And something about the way the PCB/plate is mounted definitely changes the feel of the domes, in a positive way. I can’t see typing getting better than this, ever.

Here’s mine with the MT3 /dev/tty keycaps!

K2 looking fantastic!

The wide bezels really jive well thick mt3 caps. Such a nice looking board. I’m ready to see some of these custom powdercoat finishes.
