Custom dye sub keycaps, now even cheaper

We pushed an update yesterday to Yuzu Keycaps that brought all prices down, up to 20%. We took this good news as an opportunity for let you guys know: anyone who hasn’t tried our service yet is welcome to have fun customizing their own set of keycaps. We have so many layouts to choose from, you will surely find yours! And even if you don’t, you can use the chat (in the bottom right corner) to ask us to add it for you.

Best custom dye sub ever

And I’m not just saying that to get you to buy, promised.

It took us years to get the process for custom dye sub sets right, and we are very happy with the results, and so are our customers as you can tell from the reviews section.

100% guaranteed crisp dye sub, vibrant colors, and perfect alignment (up to 0.1mm!).

Before shipping your order, we will send you photos of your keycaps so you can double check the colors, alignment and make sure you are 100% happy with the result.

Full customization

On top of the huge layout selection, you can also customize the following:

  • Fonts: use one of ours, or BYO
  • Colors: 321 colors to choose from, with actual samples photos so you can see what you are really getting
  • Language: pick from any language, or just make up your own. ISO and sublegends are supported, obviously!

Always here to help

If you are missing something, or confused by anything, just use the chat in the bottom right corner to ask about it. Message us anytime!

We also have a board of feature requests where you can cast your vote on what you would like to see next.

Roadmap

These last months we have been working on so many things that it’s hard to keep track, and still have so much in our backlog, including:

  • KAM profile support (soon™️)
  • Custom layouts/kits

I really want to tell the rest but that would spoil the surprise! :zipper_mouth_face:

Who we are?

The team from FKcaps started this project. We are a small company that backed a few keycap profiles, have started making keycaps back in 2019 and have been growing steadily since. We also partnered with Max Voltar that brings his unique design perspective, and Keyreative of course for the top notch dye sub production quality.

Everything we have done so far is to support diversity and innovation in the keyboards community, and we are very happy with all the places this journey took us, and is still going.

If you want to get in touch, you can find us on Discord, my personal handle is “kartsims”.

Yuzu could sell a ton more if the review section included either:

  1. Settings for each showcase build (level: easy) . For example, I like this GMK Norse-like set but there are a lot of Grays and Blues to choose from and no idea how they look in RL.
  2. Show RL photos of keycap for each color combo (level: difficult).

UPDATE: Fine-tuning FLUX.1 to generate custom keycaps with realistic colors and lighting should be doable. Hmm. That’s a deep rabbit hole, isn’t it?

I’m excited to see KAM profile will be available soon. What is the current profile? I can’t find mention on Yuku’s site or in this post. Maybe KCH (cherry)?

One more question: is there a way to adjust a font’s point size? I uploaded Long Cang, but its default is way too small.

hey thanks for the input, I actually could include the colors in the reviews section as for most reviews are linked to their original set anyway. Will look into that soon :ok_hand:
Regarding photos, when you pick a color, they are only photo in that modal box!
And ngl I have been eyeing FLUX.1 recently, and it is a deep rabbit hole indeed, but if you are into mechanical keyboards you are most probably into rabbit holes, right? Haha if anyone reads this and has some knowledge in this area please dm me on Discord “kartsims” I’d love to talk!

Yes it’s Cherry!

To adjust a font size, click the “Aa” icon on that layer, then use the key shortcuts, as seen in the bottom left of the modal

Any question you can ask in the chatbox (bottom right of the screen) I will happily walk you through any part of the customization process that is unclear.

Including the chosen colors in the reference images would be huge, much appreciated to see that coming.

I can also only speak great of you and the caps and especially your support (my request was the Boston kitting). Regularly play around with the configurator for the next order.

I tried using your configurator and could not really figure out how to easily come up with a custom keyset. I was using my android phone and was tapping on icons. Sometimes they changed colors and sometimes they didn’t. Maybe an android is not the best medium. If not, it might be good to suggest the best conditions. I also think that a prominent link to a well made tutorial would be helpful.

oh right, mobile support isn’t good at the moment, it will get better in the future but for now you may need to use the good old computer

It is much easier on a computer. Is there a way to copy a keycap design to other keycaps so we don’t have to select each keycap and repeat the various selections (e.g., colors)?
