Coffee in a foam cup with a plastic lid

you’ve got a solid drip setup <3 i miss getting espresso based drinks so my long term goal is to get a good home machine. if i dont get distracted by other expenses, that is.

I’m a monster. I take the lid off to let the coffee become room temperature quicker. Once at ideal chugging temperature, I chug it and enjoy the whole caffeine rush at once.

Yes, I always take the lid off. Tastes better b/c you don’t burn the tip of your lips through the lid spout, and you can smell it properly… which is at least 1/2 of the taste, right?

Ha! I do the same! I never like my coffee “piping hot.” My wife thinks I’m crazy. I also found that I love oatmeal this same way. Nice and luke-warm.

gotta take that lid off, can’t stand to drink with it on. however I try to avoid buying coffee and just make it at home. What inevitably happens whenever I buy coffee is that I sit down, remove the lid, and proceed to drink the coffee too fast so that I finish it before it gets cold. Then I’ll be jittery for the next few hours.

I prefer to fill up my big-ass thermos which keeps my coffee scalding hot all day and prevents me from drinking it so fast I start vibrating out of my desk chair.

You literally described my objective when drinking coffee.

my go to is shots of espresso over ice, I have a fancy italian machine and I will make 3-6 shots of espresso, dump them over ice in my insulated travel mug, add a splash of cold water depending on how much espresso, sometimes a splash of cream if I have it, and drink the whole thing by 11am.

Lid off and better yet, transfer to ceramic. Best of yet, make coffee myself in ceramic mug!

i’ve got nothing but respect for the coffee chuggers, sometimes I need the juice quick too…

but I work a pretty relaxed job in a very subdued environment, so for me, anything more than a notch above “dozing off” is too much energy

I’m astonished by the proportion of lid removers in this thread. Who knew…

Love to see the oat milk, how do you like that brand? I don’t think I’ve seen it before

This one is local to my region of British Columbia! What’s cool is that we actually use the same one at work at my Cafe, but you can go to Save On and buy the same thing off the shelf  Only other ones I’ve tried have been Earth’s Own, which was also pretty darn good. Don’t think I’ve seen Oatly around, yet!

I have a Rancilio Silvia, my mom had and used it daily from around probably 2007ish to 2014, then it was in storage until about a year and a half ago, and I’ve been using it more or less daily since then. I’ve done some maintenance on it (regular cleaning, new water tank, tightened things up here and there), there is some wear and tear and the coating on the part where you put the filter thing is coming off, but otherwise it still works great. This particular machine has been awesome because you can get replacements parts for almost everything online.

For some reason I’m absolutely tickled by the number of responses this got in such a short time. Love this community.
I’ll tag in as a lid-on until I reach where ever I’m drinking it, then lid off for drinking. Lose too much nose with the lid on.

A person of fine tastes! I have the same Gooseneck kettle for my pour over (I use a Hario V60).

It’s fantastic - I like using different temperatures depending on the roasts. I find that ~176 brings out chocolate notes for Guatemalan. 28g coffee 400g water with a slightly larger grind than you’d normally do produces a clean but excellent cup with that flavour note. Give it a shot!

I haven’t gotten a lot of to go coffee in the last year, but when I do, that lid never comes off. Is it high jacking the thread to talk about mate? I’ve been really into mate recently in place of coffee.

The lid of the re-usable cup I brought stays on :slightly_smiling_face:
