If im soldering LED’s to a keyboard pcb can it be any led or does it need anything for compatability
Well that would be completely dependent on what PCB you are using. Through hole or SMD, RGB or single color, on the PCB or on/in the switch. So knowing what PCB you are working with would be a must to answer that
Uhh sorry, but I don’t really know anything about that stuff I just got into keyboards like this week and havnt rly gotten to the pcb part of it. I was wondering cause I was thinking maybe I’d be able to put lights on a keyboard without them or replace ones there are with brighter ones and such. Sorry. I am think argb though
Do you have a model number then maybe? That should help also
I’m thinking of buying a wooting 80HE if that helps? This is the image wooting uses on their website
Also would it be possible to make the north facing leds be south or is that not possible?
It would not be possible to flip it in this case as the PCB is designed that way.
Oh ok, so if a led is North or south facing its not a choice the manufacturer does? It’s something they have to do based on the pcb’s design?
It is something the manufacturer does but they aren’t the ones deciding it which is what I am assuming you meant. Whatever is in the PCB file for the design they just follow it.
Ohhh ok, thank you also rgb leds can be turned off right?
Yes, 99% of the time you can turn them off, change their color, and change the LED effect through software and/or with physical key bindings.
Oh ok, thank you sometimes I like having it off
