Wow man thank you. It’s rare to find odd little GMK kits like this in stock anywhere.
You can set this in the System Preferences -> Keyboard:
As this is user-wide setting, and not per keyboard, it’s weird that it is acting differently on one keyboard you own though. But I think it can be explained by “MacOS mode” of some vendors - for example Varmilo disappointed me in that: their “mac mode” makes all funciton keys act normally except the one for keyboard backlight (F6? F5? One of those) which acts the opposite.
Thank you! I knew this option existed but wasn’t sure where to find it.
Now that you mention it, this board does in fact have such a mode - I don’t use it because of how used to the key locations I am now, but that might explain why this one behaves differently than the rest.
Edit: works like a charm.
I’ve definitely been bitten by the per-keyboard settings in macOS for swapping modifiers!

Yeah, that one is per-keyboard
good looking out! this might be just what I need
Didn’t stage this… I’ve been training my brain to switch back/forth between ortho and standard staggered, and tracking WPM.
Top: Lily58 Pro, Paco switches with Gat Yellow springs and 205g0 (they were Blueberries). Keyset is a cheapy Qisan set, going for that blackout look without GMK prices. Obviously not all switches are there… also training on Miryoku layout
Bottom: Custom MF68 with steel 1.5mm top and bottom plates, Drop Holy Pandas with 3204, Artifact BoW PBT set from Drop.
Holy Pandas on steel! Think that would tire me out.
Wow, GMK Phantom is definitely one of those sets that has entered god status in my mind. It looks amazing with the brass accents of the J-02.
Also managed to build my J-02 as well; apologies for the terrible photography.
Getting used to a 60% again will be an adjustment it seems ha.
Yeah I was quite shocked when I saw it pop up for sale on mm, almost never see it for sale.
I have this issue with the EPBT x GoK BoW set that I got a few months back with either only the 7u spacebar or the screw in stabs that come with the more premium kbdfans boards. Luckily I had an NP spacebar laying around so I’ve been using that. Would love to know if there are any solutions to this.
Will have a build log up soonish, but I did finish (for now) workin on this SHIFT so now I’m giving it a spin
Board: Drop SHIFT
Keycaps: Norbauer After-school 1992 (which it turns out is slightly less than ideal for this specific layout)
Switches: A mix of Bobas holy and poli, built with TT MP 67g-ish (from a weird batch that ended up heavier than intended) springs and lubed with Tribosys 3203
Stabs: Gateron plate-mounted, lubed with more 3203 (and dielectric grease on the wire)
and some extra love I’m keeping for the build guide
I think what’s causing this is the stems being slightly off-angle. It might be possible to rig something up so I can see where the stabs are scraping to get an idea in what direction the stems are off. From there some careful heat and pressure could do the trick… theoretically.
My newest build, self-design southpaw board with PBT Sanctuary Rebirth keycaps.
I ask for “red” anodization and… well… it’s red, not as I expected though
Very nice board!
Can you share were you made the case manufactured ?
it’s from a local manufacturer, I’m not sure they would accept the order from oversea. Also I have to await for quite a time before my unit get made (because I only ordered 1 unit)
Understood.
The ano looks nicely done
