Things that make us go... hmmm 🤔

The board is very expensive for what it is, more than 450$ if I recall.

Um, that’s the SALE price… I think they are trying to convince you that it’s a humdinger of a deal, because they feel it should be $600…

Successor to the original Invyr Panda!??!!??!

I’m sure they meant the Holy Panda frankenswitch… since the original Invyr Panda was itself a flop in its original stated goal of being a super smooth linear.

There’s a reason YOK and other subsequent Pandas came around - and that reason is that by the time Quakemz mixed-up Holy Pandas, Invyr Pandas were already out of production and hardly on anyone’s radar.

Pandamania emerged from mixing Kailh and BSUN parts - not from the BSUN switch on its own. That at the time un-planned interaction between BSUN’s linear leaf and Kailh’s tactile stem brought something new to the MX sphere - but it sure isn’t new at this point.

This is like someone saying they’ve found the next Beatles - yeah - there have been plenty of bands just as if not more talented through the years, but none have had that unique opportunity in cultural and technological change that they did. Same goes for Holy Pandas. We have lots of better switches right now, and none of them will ever have the same level of name recognition - not because of their quality, but because of their context.

What are some examples? I’ve tried Outemu Pandas and Glorious Pandas, but curious if there are some better similar options.

I somehow missed the boat on Holy Pandas, but I’d put Boba U4T at the top of the tactile list.

I love TTC’s take on the tactile Panda, and I also love stuff that is derivative but a little different, like Moyu Bettys or Diced Fruit Kiwis.

Idobao taking a risk. Not my cup of tea, but nice to see something different. They call it the “Fragrance Keyboard.”

Definitely not one I would have seen coming.

As far as I can tell that bit with the flower is a ceramic diffuser for fragrance oils. If aroma is your thing, hey, why not.

I’ll wait for Razer to come out with one that will let your keyboard have the same scent as your favorite Axe Body Spray…

I will riot if the Razer keyboard diffuser doesn’t smell like Axe Shave Gel.

I know there are donut holes, but what happened to bagel holes?

Looking at the page, I don’t see any mention of that.

So this is the most insanely low price yet for a full CNC TKL with a weight and the shipping global air is only $7.

Insanity. $59.

What slave labor produced this? Lol. I ordered one even though I don’t use TKLs. I’ll gift it. Curiosity got me.

This one really is a head scratcher. You’re right that it doesn’t state anywhere on the page that the top section is for adding “Fragrance”

Exquisite Top-Border Design:-

The IDOBAO Fragrance keyboard has an astonishingly beautiful design theme. The Yellow and off-white-coloured keyboard has a beautiful flower-like engraving 3D pattern on the top side of the keyboard. This gives the keyboard a retro-ethnic-like theme design.

Retro-ethnic-like theme. Jesus almighty. We got some language barriers for sure. I ain’t never looked at a keyboard and thought, you know what would look retro and ethnic? FLOWERS

Anywhoo… maybe “Fragrance” is like “a bouquet of flowers”? I’m really stretching here. Trying to come up with a reason for the top section that looks like it’s stuck on and not actually integrated with the main keyboard. Is this the 4000mAh battery compartment? Is this a pre-existing design that they’ve slapped an engraving on?

Hmm…

Ridiculously low. I am wondering if it is cast aluminium or how it is possible to get such a low price. WK870 did give hits on some places but google translate didn’t give any more information to it. The chinese market price seems to be 299-349CNY (40-50USD)

Product page says CNC, not cast. We’ll see when I get it.

This is crazy value, I hope they’ll make a 65% (67 key) version.

But I always wonder about the quality of the PCB, would it be durable? static shock resistant?

The problem I see with 60-65% is the software to customizing the keys, for TKL it is less of an issue (I think? I only use 60%)

Edit: The Sugar65 is 73USD before tax but no reviews and no holes for pcb stabs https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006033969301.html
