That means⌠youâre irregular
This is going to sound weird, but something like a G512 could be perfectly serviceable.
Romer-G is a bad and annoying switch to people who are used to something like clean, retooled MX linears. But MX tactiles are not king of the pack, and donât have much over Romer-G.
For people coming from rubber domes, Romer-G will feel more familiar and thus be usable. Youâve already commented on what appears as nice build quality, so this is a package you could hand to someone coming from a rubber-dome, and it might appear as a vast improvement.
As switches, Iâd definitely put Romers (or whatever the actual mfr calls them) above domes in every way but one.
Durability. Those dainty little mounting nubs make the inside of my brain itch⌠It could be the time I spent working at Best Buy - we had five or so different mechanical display boards; some Razers, a Steel Series, and a Logitech with Romer Gâs.
The latter was the only one missing caps, and every few weeks another would go - not because people would take them, but because the tabs physically broke off. Granted store display is one of the harshest environments a keeb can live in, but still - it was the only keeb in the store like that and it only got worse.
I donât think anyone here would break them under normal use - I just couldnât help but notice.
As a total package, the only other thing Iâd really gripe about are those caps. Painted! I get why they do it⌠but man. What a gulf in apparent material quality between the case and caps, and they are the one and only option for the board. They work and they transmit RGB and all that jazz - but for what the thing costs⌠Iâll put it this way - if Durgod can sell a keeb for $120 with an aluminum enclosure and doubleshot caps, so can Logitech.
Durability is why you would go with MX in the end. MX-stem caps at least donât have that problem.
Around here (bay area) it seems every store that has them on display has missing keycaps, definitely because people steal them lol. Even target has razer display models these days, and those are usually missing most of their keycaps, but last time I was in best buy most of their display models were missing a few it seemed like and it was definitely something I saw a Fryâs (R.I.P) too.
This is the curse of the nonstandard bottom row⌠they needed replacement keycaps, and there was only one way forward.
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

Royal Kludge RK825. I might be crazy, but I kinda like the design, but the arrow keys, Win and Esc key placement is weird.
Also, what is the key on the left of F4 and F1? Never seen them before.
I think at least one of them is the print screen, the other might be for opening the display preferences.
This looks like a lot of questionable decisions:
- that up arrow is going to be a huge pain
- why two enter keys so close to each other?
- that windows key next to tab is going to hurt tab completion
- esc will be a nightmare for vim users
- cursor movement keys on the other side of the keyboards from arrows
- that tilde key is going to get in the way a lot
- backspace in place of AltGr?
- what does the Fn key even do if all F1-F12 keys are available normally?
My guess would be something to do with the RGB lights. Maybe to dim/brighten, speed up/slow down or to change to a different profile.
I also just noticed a key in between the volume up and numpad 1 key. Looks like a QR code lol
Wow. Also, backspace is right adjacent to numpad enter. Iâm sure that wonât cause any issues.
I am not trying to knock anyone doing something different, but this keyset just has bad vibes:
Reminds me of this keyboard spotting gone wrong scene from âHackersâ:
Are you saying you donât use a camo keyboard when youâre hiding from people online?
Just⌠make one of those all-over dyesub sets, I beg you.
When your bezel is so high-pro that itâs hard to reach the keys
