I agree, I am not a fan of gradient sets at all, but they do look much better on ortho boards!

It’s because on orthos baords the caps are aligned

Yep, makes the sets look like (I think) they should. Not that they look terrible on staggered boards, just not my cup of tea. Although as popular the big gradient sets have been I’m definitely an outlier with my opinion on them.
I believe the technical term is an “envy” of Norbauers.

I hadn’t anticipated the change in typing angle this case provides VS the original Filco’s angle - at first I wasn’t too fond of that. Now, though, I think it will pair really well with a high-profile set like MT3 or SA. I ended up putting the Filco in an aluminum top shell that retains the original bottom shell, and will actually be putting a Turtle Beach Impact 500 I have laying around in the YMD case since they are basically the same dimension-wise. Somewhere up farther in this thread I have a picture of that in this case with MDA Big Bone on it.
