From what I’ve gathered there’s hasn’t been any official announcement regarding finishes yet, but I’ve seen a few in this thread. Is retro refrigerator planned to be available as well? Thanks.
any thoughts on/possibility of a plate with premade holes for mx 2u caps? would love to use this board with MX caps but also hate the idea of drilling into a Norbauer plate. I guess this is why you’re offering extra plates?
When will there be a typing demonstration of the finished product? I’d be interested to see how the case and foam affect the typing experience compared to lube, silencing rings and foam on a stock board.
I believe it was covered above that it won’t be for sound reasons
ah, must have missed that, thanks
Absolutely. That’s the main reason I haven’t launched the GB already. I want to wait until I have a first sample plate so that I can film a typing test with it.
On another note, I’ve been spending my time waiting for the injection molding samples by designing a vibration-dampening isolation mount for the plate, which makes it feel even more bouncy and like the original HHKB. This will now be included standard.
So if I don’t have a HHKB keyboard yet, I need to buy one just for using the Norbauer heavy grail?
yup
Did you ever get a Pro 1 to try out the compatibility?
If not, I would be happy to send mine in for R&D
Oh, yes. I didn’t realize I hadn’t posted an update on that here. I’m sorry to say that the Pro 1 is not compatible with the Heavy Grail.
Awwh, shucks. Thanks for the fast response. I guess I’ll be the market for a Pro 2 soon then :3
Getting close.
That’s really cool to see how intricate and cool the molds are. Thanks for sharing this!
Is it just the controller that isn’t compatible or the entire PCB? I have both a pro 1 and a pro 2 and was planning to move the pro 1 in the heavy grail using the pro 2 stock controller (I have already replaced it with a hasu controller) to have both a sturdy desktop HHKB and a lighter one for travel .
I actually think that would work! The core PCBs seem to have the same footprints. It’s just the breakout PCB that has a different size and configuration.
That bottom (swatch) color is great, would love a light salmon pink-ish Topre keyboard.
Does it matter whether you use a black or white HHKB?
