Iâm kinda digging the burgundy one. Could put Royalty on it.
I guess it depends on the price. If theyâre cheap enough, Iâll get a colorful one in addition to the OG color.
New photos and a vid update on the GH page: [IC] Command 65 - BT Keyboard with Toggle Switches (GB on 2022.7.21)
Look how good the color and texture is! Actual product images with GMK caps
They did a fantastic job. I want to buy 3! Ha! I think in their future rounds they will have a black version as well. The prototype in black looked awesome. Very authentically vintage.
My keycaps are just sitting here, waiting.
WTS GMK Nautilus
Yes! So glad this turned out so good.
RIP my wallet. I just ordered a CA66 from them. I should just start signing my paychecks over.
Really a shame it only comes with MX Blue switches. The C64 didnât have clickies.
Ohno. Those keycaps
Personally I find projects that bring back the original flair much more interesting. Like the Ultimate64
GB starting mid to late July!!!
Still canât decide on a color. Iâm torn between navy and ivory. Really hope black and burgundy will be in the next round.
I always liked the look of the C16 - but already have so many gray boards. This oneâs going to be a tough decision.
fuckkkkk idk what color i want. Im torn between the classic and steel
One interesting detail that I hadnât noticed but just confirmed on Geekhack, the case is spray painted. Not sure how I feel about that.
That was done because the look of the raw plastic was really not appealing. It just had a very cheap look to it.
Barry from Play Keyboards was asking for opinions a while ago while showing pictures of both. The painted version was far superior.
Iâve got to say, itâs amusing to watch those guys making new 8-bit systems get excited about relatively generic mech keyboards.
Like the 8-Bit Guy on Youtube. Heâs designing the Commodore x16, basically the Commodore 64 v1.5 upgrade that never existed. And some other people are making the Mega65, the unreleased Commodore 65.
You can watch videos where they fawn over prototypes using largely generic MX switches âcapped micro-switchesâ as the 8-bit Guy calls them.
Donât get me wrong: these are really cool projects, and I enjoy watching the videos.
But some tray-mount with stock MX Blues and custom Commodore keycaps is the âluxury model,â and a rubber-dome with Commodore legends is the âeconomy model.â Itâs just that people here likely wouldnât find either satisfactory, this Command 65 is more like it.
You can watch 8-Bit Guy assemble a Vic-20 kit:
Itâs just stock clickies on a PCB. Wonder what he would think of the Command 65.
At least he gets a full 8-bit system when he spends $300 on a case! But seriously, I wonder if someone should talk with him, let him know about dye-sub, MT3 profile, mounting styles, dampening, and so on.
Then again, heâs smart for avoiding all this! But honestly, all he needs to do is contact the manufacturer of ASA or MG profile to run some Commodore double-shots for cheap.
Its live aaaa
Got my âClassicâ ordered, keycaps are waiting patiently in the box.
